last nite, then blue lights ???

sorry for the long post but..... Out & about last night. We called in the hospital to see my mam & say nite nite.
I let my boyfriend drive, as feeling down with seeing my mam (she has kidney
failure for the 2nd time in a few months & really ill, so has drips etc in her hand & neck & needs dialisis)
On the way home a porcshe comes belting past, and i shouts up "catch it".
Got nek & nek, the porsche backed off, LOL
Decided i needed a few things from tesco 11pm ... got a few things... drove out the carpark
(well boyfriend did) straight away, blue lights in a "unmarked POLO"
Number plate. I know people told me, its illegal, but you see many around.
I thought it would be mostly for the spacing.
    NO... THE FONT??? £30 fine.
But we had no seat belts on, spot lights were on, have really blinding purple HID's (turn white things ultra violet)
& bright white LED side lights.....
There was 2 of them in the plod car, and they said that their computer in THEIR car had flashed up that the font was illegal..... ********,
2 youngish jobsworth's in a piddly unmarked polo.
I have spotted these 2 before, same tesco car park, staring at the car.
Asked about documents etc, i said yeah i have them, do a check & you'll
see i bought tax disc ready for the end of the month...
Anyway, i was gettin annoyed as the git had his little torch on my tax, and
had tried to patronise us. So michael got me away, as i was begining to loose it
(you can imagine my frame of mind atm)
Didnt give a producer out, just the fine.
So now i will buy a set of plates, legal font but same spacing etc, as have the
fine to say its the font.

    Teen.

    **RANT OVER**

a little reminder of the plate you all love so much :mischeif:

Sorry Tina, but it's a no brainer. They will stop you for the smallest issue and you gave them the perfect reason.

The new in-car computers do actually flash up incorrect fonts, it is a big thing at the moment because of the massive amount they are spending on ANPR equipment.

German plates you'll normally get away with, because a normal cop won't really notice the difference, but if you get a whitecap then they will come down just as hard as on a script font like tinas.

At the end of the day the police have a job to do, and that is upholding the law, unfortunately whether drivers like it or not, the law of the land is there, the police don't make it, just enforce it.

Politics is politics, my point is that the rank and file police officers are not the ones to blame, and getting arsey with them and comments such as "nothing better to do" are not especially helpful. They do as they are insructed by their superior officers, which comes down from Chief Officers, who I agree, are effectively politicians.

Sorry but thats not true either mate, i aint going into this as it's a car forum but i know some many police officers and ones that have left that i grew up with.

The police only car about stats and use motorist to generate these stats and money.

Well, I personally do not agree, but as you say this isn't the time and place to go into it, I have my views which are based on my experience and you have yours.
