Anyone Auto-X their S2 in Europe?

I am looking to auto-X my car in the USA and it is essentially an S2.

There is no classification for the S2 and I would like to see what other cars they run with so I can get it in the right arena.

Any help on Euro-classifications for the S2 would be appreciated.

    Thanks!

    Do what with it ?

    Auto-X ?

As in autocross - kinda like rallycross you mean ?

Dirt or asphalt out of interest ?

The S2 was homologated for motorsport globally by the FIA but the regs expired in 2001 - I have tried to dig up homologation papers without success so far.

      Yep, autocross on asphalt.

So, does the FIA classify the cars for this type of event? Maybe I can find information on the FIA website. I need to know what SCCA (Sports Car Club of America) cless I should be running in.

Since the S2 was never brought to North America it is not in the listings. I want to find a car in the euro specification in the same class as an S2 that would also be listed by the SCCA. Hopefully they would allow me to run in the same class. Right now I have to run in D-modified which allows huge improvements over stock. That means I am running against some track only cars. Not fair against my mostly stock S2.

      Thanks,
      Dave

SCCA rules for autocross, cars classes are set up with the phrase "as delivered in the United States" or something similiar. You will probably have to run Street Modified, but that is just a guess. Easiest way to tell is get the SCCA rule book.

They can have my car when they pry my cold dead fingers from the steering wheel.

You are correct. But, if I am not in the running for the series they are not too worried about what class I run. I would also like to compare my times with cars in the same class.

          Thanks,

I'd suggest that anything in the SCCA listings that is turbocharged engine of approx same engine size will determine the appropriate class for the S2. Dunno if 4WD makes a difference in the way SCCA classes operate.
