    Email spam

I use a specific and unique email address for this forum. The only other place that has used it has been VAG Parts - once.

I have (recently) started receiving email spam to the email address.

Has there been any security leaks or email harvesting?

My computer seems to be clean: the account(s) in use do not have the rights to install anything, and the various security/AV/etc programs all report cleanliness.

I'm not accusing anyone of anything, just trying to find out where the particular email address leaked out from. I may have to chalk it up to another of those irritating "it happens on the web" things.

    Ck.
Shocked, exhausted, hosed, bushed, dumped, chipped, mounted, filtered, gauged, packed, intermittantly wiped and braked. I mean broken. Now, about the car...

Not as simple as that, could have been picked up via spyware or cookies on your computer or the most likely case with email spam they simple bombard the domain extension with a **** load of stuff hoping to get a valid hit.

I know *sigh* that comes under the "it happens on the web" part

Aside from the spyware part (as per initial post: my computer is clean as far as the various detection/protection programs are concerned - I do however acknowledge that none of them are entirely infallible) I agree with you completely.

Time to junk another email address.

      Thanks for the thoughts
