    Camera/Laser Detectors.

    Hi People

I've been meaning to purchase a license saver for a while now but still undecided as to which one to get. Basically i want something that will detect anything and considering the fact that i need a license to work i'm prepared to buy the best regardless of cost. It would be nice to have one with satnav but they dont seem to offer the full range of detection like the detection only units. There are a few that i'm considering but would like some feedback from those of you that have tried and tested any.

Advice and btdt's would be much appreciated.

    Cheers

As I understand it you basically need 2 units to be covered.
A road pilot/Snooper /Bel/ road angel / will only wrn you of fixed speed cameras Gatso/Truvelo/ Specs/ and whatever fixed cameras are lurking around. They claim to warn you of the hand held laser guns /dodgyscopes, but itactually only tells you when the laser is locked on and you have been caught.

What you need for this is a garage door opener/laser diffuser.Made by Lidatek ( and a couple of others) It is a device that sits either side of you number plate or behind the front grill.

I have a Micro road pilot at the minute , but have still to get my garage door opener

The garage door device sends a signal back to the laser gun and jams it. The police can caution for having them for no reason, so u will have to get yourself a electronic garage door.

Bit of a sticking point with the garage door openers. Yes technically as Stevie says they are deemed to be illegal, as they are deemed to interfere with the Police doing their job.

Correctly, it does send a jamming signal to the laser which comes up as "errror code" on the laser, whilst a buzzer in in the car tells you the laser is locked on. The operator resets the gun and tries for another speed reading, by which time you should have both slowed down enough and turned the jammer off.

Generally it seems that people who have been prosecuted are ones who have not turned the jammer off and the laser operator keeps on getting an error code whilst trying to get a reading.

I will still have to get one to open the gates at the entrance to my nephews new house

There have been no U.K convition in court jubjub as the Police have to prove you manually operated the laser jammer. It's a big grey area and this is coming from my rozzer friends.

The origin b2 laser jammer is one of the best on the market

I don't personally know of any conviction like you say. But I would have thought that if an Officer with a laser gun is trying to get a reading from you and the laser keeps coming up with error code would that not give him reasonable thought to think you have a device on the car that is obstructing their duty......?

If it is turned off then he will have no reason to stop, providing you are not speeding.

I was under the impression that an Officer has to "formulate an opinion" that a car is speeding and then use either a mobile camera/hand held laser to prove his judgement and use as evidence if you are.

"Pinging" is supposed to be a no -no, which is whereby an officer will set up a camera/laser on a stand and just have it firing on every car that passes.
There was one of these on each of the 3 lanes of the A3 the other week. I spotted it in the distance, and as I passed under the bridge saw a Police van parked up out of view from the motorway, with what looked like was nice little natter going on between 5-6 of them.

I was stiil under the impression that the Origin B2 will still warn you of a laser gun, but only when the laser is locked on? As a camera detector though, it is one of the best IMO.

I have a snooper laser jammer, superb! saved me a couple of times!
As said, plod shoots you with laser, snooper screams at you, slow down, turn off jammer, cruise past, drop it at least two gears, Nail it!
You have got to fight fire with fire!

When I got chased by some knobs in blue and pulled over for a look at the UR, they asked what the "lights" where by the grill?
I told it was an old car with sticky out bits! They bought it!

Ive got an Origin B2 and got mine for £150 brand new from ebay - bargain central

The jammer thing someone got arrested over and taken to court, but as the driver didnt activate the device, the Origin B2 unit did, they couldnt prosecute the driver and he got away with it.

The Origin B2 unit is very tidy tho i think and is the best around of that type and its great small size means you can remove it and put in your pocket without any agro which makes you far more likely to use it and take it out the car after, others arent as good, some friends have the Road Angel and its poor on GPS Signal and poor on what it does in comparison i think hence the cheaper price.

The origin B2 comes with 6 months free subscription to updates as well, careful if buying 2nd hand as if they have gone outside the subscription period there is a reconnection fee of £25 i think it is plus the subscription fee

So b2 is a gps? as you mention it needs updates and subscriton, i was under impression it was just a "jammer" device that sits under bonnet untill you press a button.

                            The B2 does everything.

Its a GPS Device, has a laser detector (the radar is an add-on part, or its the other way around and comes with radar and u buy the laser part)
The JAMMER is another add-on device.

One of the ease of use aspects i like is that it sits in a craddle so there is nothing to plug / unplug when you get in / out of the car, just lift it off the craddle.

This is what you need to go with the B2 for it to act as a Jammer.
The B2 can be configured to activate and de-activate the jammer as well, you dont need to do it manually.
