Just brought the S2 north, Car was fine all the way to Warwick services, filled it up (like a prat, to the brim) with BP Ultima and hey-presto, it stutters and faulters at high boost/high rpm... Got to Keale Services and put £15.00 of Shell Otimax on top and the misfire is still there, but a lot less agressive...
I'd steer clear of it for a while if you've got a choice...

Just my 2p / BTDT (but never heard good things about Ultimate)...
Mine used to do this with different fuels etc. I could always tell when my old man had 'inadvertantly' put Tesco 95 in it as it ran like a bag of nails. When MRC did a health check on it last November ther was a fault code relating to the active mapping that the ECU performs on the fly. Replaced the Lambda sensor and the problem has disappeared. I can run whatever fuek I like 95 / Optimax / Supreme, highly useful for those long distance motorway plods up North. Also feels quite lively on 95 whereas before it felt like it was really struggling, rather like severe heat soak.
Current favourite is Esso Supreme It's the cheapest 97/98RON in Bristol and is readily available around the city centre, great preparation for a thrash back home!
