    Computer question

This is a long shot, but I'm struggling for ideas.

I got a CD of my wedding photos through at the weekend, and being a bit on the stingy side I thought I'd copy the images off it and put them on a CD that I'm making for all the guests.

However, the crafty ****** of a photographer has copy protected it so that I'm struggling to get anything from it. There's only one file on the disk called SLIDESHOW.EXE

I though no problem, I'll just do a screen dump on each image and paste it into Paint Shop Pro, or Photoshop, but it doesn't allow that either.

Does anyone know of a way to get these images out of the slideshow? I have Paint Shop Pro 7 and Photoshop CS installed on my PC. I don't know what the photographer used to make the CD, but I know the PC was running Windows.

    Any help would be appreciated.

Use 3rd party software for a screen shot, such as Hypersnap.

You'd be better off extracting the originals, check your PM for details.

Do you know if slideshow.exe is published by Irfanview? If it is, you can press F1 to extract images.

        HTH.

let me get this right, you paid for these photo's? And the photographer has not given you access to a product you paid for?

they are your property arnt they?

          confusing..

@Ski, the photographer ultimately owns the copyright.

Yup - Photographer owns the copyright.

I've downloaded ScreenHunter 4 and it works fine, but I'd still like to get the original images if thats possible.

So keep thinking - someone must know.

PM Sent back. F1 simply brings up a small help page telling me what keys to use to step through and pause/quit the slideshow.

There's no program name on any of the dialog boxes that appear.

                  Very covert!

IMHO, it is locked for a reason. It is his livelyhood. You will probably find the photo's are not full size or res even in the viewer...

I know where you are coming from, we are in the process of having our photo's done, and it would be nice to have your own set, but ultimately the photographer does need to make a living.

With ours, if you spend a certain amount, you get the preview CD's to keep. (not originals though)

                    Cheers,

I think your wrong steve, If he paid for the pics he should get the originals.

Personally i dont know why you dont' just copy the files onto the CD your making but hey that would be too simple.

If you download ISO buster that will extract the images and by pass any copy protection.

Thats what I want to do, but there is only one file on the disk and it is called SLIDESHOW.EXE. It is 21MB in size and I'm certain it has all the files encoded within it.

I don't think that would work. I think the images are encoded within the file. I can copy the one 21MB file to my hard drive, take the CD out and the slideshow still runs with all the images in it.
I really need to crack the EXE file, but knowing what made it would be of help. I don't want to ask the photographer as he will know what I'm up to.

The reason I'm doing this is to get as many photos together for a CD that I want to send out to our guests. We are still buying the album (in fact we've already paid a small fortune for it!), but we'd like as many photos as possible of our day.

The photographer is not getting conned. Well no more than he is conning us! He wants £200 for a £24x20 print, and then another £150 for the frame! I don't think so!

My uncle in canada is a wedding photographer, he says that its now very common for them to take the pictures for a call-out fee, and then make the money on selling the prints instead of just handing over the rolls of film, also most of it is digital today.

If its an unbranded slideshow i would imagine that its a compiled flash projector file. The photographer could just import the images, automatically compressing the files, and export it.

Would take about 5 minutes to make the CD.

If the file is 21mb, unless there are only 20 images or so then they wont be a brilliant quality.

If it is a projector file you can get some good decompiler software to extract the contents of it.

I had a good program a while back call Sothink SWF Decompiler. If you want to send me the file i can see what i can do with it, or you can download a demo from http://www.sothink.com/product/flashdecompiler/ and give it a go. Assuming that it is a projector file ofcourse!

                              Cheers.
