not exactly sure the question your asking, but yes you can improve handling and acceleration of any car to beat a evo with enough mods and cash. even fiesta's.
start with basics to beat the evo. like, shocks, springs, mounts, wheels, chip, rs2 parts etc.. etc..
are you going to be modding your s2 to outpeform a evo? just that in your other post you said you coudnt afford to maintain it and thinking of selling?
or you could do what I do. Wait for something to break then replace it with a performance part.
that way you slowly mod your car, and it gets more and more reliable
I was thinking of selling my car to get something with more potential.
so if I sell my car for 5k, what can I buy for 5k that will be a 4x4 turbo, 0-60 5.6 or better, and can handle as good as a s2. I dont think there is anything is there? so S2 still is the best in my book
Chris are you obsessed with Evo's personally I can't see what all the fuss is about them, its a 'playstation' car...if you want everything managed by electronics, go jap - if you want mechanical fun then the s2 is your bag
If you want to go around a corner as fast as possible buy an EVO, if want something you can tolerate driving home from work in rush hour traffic buy the S2.
Thats what i think anyway

If you want to go around a corner as fast as possible buy an EVO 'or a scooby'
There is a few of these kind of cars around and only one kind of t**t (chav's in the main) drives them 'you what i mean' the kind who have complete disregard for everyone and everything driving or not.
OK Chris, you think your audi costs a lot to run ?
Guy who I work with, he's a young lad about 22yrs old.
Started off his car career in a chaved up saxo. When I say chaved up, I mean seriously chaved up with tat and stuff, had horns on the back for a spoiler (spoiler with no middle bit). You get the idea.
Went on and on and on about wanting an EVO, and he eventually paid £14k for an imported evo 6 ralliart in the most horrenous china potty blue.
So far he had to do this;
1/ new front brembo caliper as the other came apart at 80mph (two peice caliper)
2/ new alloy imported from japan, damaged by the above.
3/ new steering rack
4/ new intercooler, as the old one fell apart (weld on the ally broke open)
5/ new wiring harness, cos the old one caught fire behind the dash.
6/ new drivers door handle and door card, he pulled the other handle off (made of cardboard or something)
7/ something went t**s up in the rear diff, something to do with the yaw control unit?
8/ now the car is off the road for 6 months whilst he saves for the engine to be rebuilt, due to a rod coming undone from the crankshaft, or something like that.
9/ oH! and both front foglights fell out.
Car is on an age related plate here, and is a V-reg.
Maybe a one off, but I'd never buy one

Not a fan of EVO's at all.
