I was never a big fan of him, but I'm sorry that he's gone. He was a top bloke by all accounts.

How he made it this far without being bitten by a croc I'll never know!

Sad news that. I'll never forget the scene of him with a venom spitting snake using his backpack as a shield "strewth she’s a little angry today, easy girl!" ....while rather large snake is trying to spit poison venom in his eye lol

I hate to state the painfully obvious, but surely this was bound to happen sooner or later...
"jeez, you're an angry little fella aint ya?"
Yah, and I would be too if I was pulled off my missus on the vinegar strokes!
He was great to watch, but imo was getting too comfortable pestering some fairly dangerous animals.
Ironic he should get it from a fish that almost never attacks people.

Although his death was inevitable, I have to say I had alot of respect for him as he did an awful lot in australia and around the world for wildlife. I think the saddest part of this is the fact that he has left a wife, 8 year old daughter and a 3 year old son.

My thoughts are with his family..

Sad to hear, when I first heard it on the news I was half asleep and was expecting to say that he had been playing with some large crocs but was shocked that it was a stingray.....
He will be missed by many and especially his family who my thoughts go out to.

I was a bit sceptical when I first heard of his death. About a year ago there were reports that he had been eaten by a croc on the net, but nothing came of that! It was also the same website that said Johnny Knoxville had died doing a stunt, but again nothing came of that!

Sad, though as people have said, maybe inevitable?

One of the funniest memories I have was when He casually hopped over the fence to a Crocodile enclosure to mow the lawn. I think the croc was actually a bit miffed as every so often it looked like it was going to attack.......and Irwin looked ready to do a leg job

im gutted too woke up this morning to hear the sad news,seemed like a top bloke wish i could of met him in person b4 he got attacked by this stingray(Evil B******)!!I suppose the stingray was jus defending himself,rest in peace mate.
