neck n neck with bmw 530d!!!!

You know what, this happened to me recently. I had two passengers and he was lonesome, but I was suprised to see two down facing exhausts, was expecing it to be a 540i. I was beating him by the end of the straights of these lanes we were driving in, but coming out of the bends he was up my exhausts like a rat up a drainpipe! They've only got 204bhp don't they? Thats worrying especially if your running 280bhp. I know torque is important and everything, but you can't beat a bit of high end power!
Whats also suprising was that in my Dads 330i est. we had a kind of race with the roofbox on and the whole family against a 330d coupe and won?! But I'm sure my audi feels quicker than his beema did?! Hes now got an E430, needless to say I won't be tailgating him at motorway speeds!

A lot of you have mentioned the 530d.

How does the 330d compare if it is lighter than the 5 series?

Probably alot better, we use the 330D/530/X5 in our racers, with a decent re-map its making about 315bhp and nearly 800NM of torque on stock everything
Good engine IMHO
