I've used clay bar before, though not by Meguiars with good results. The paint is slippery smooth to the touch after applying it.

I read somewhere that they can only be used for about 5 applications, I personally thought they can be used longer than that providing that you can knead the clay to reveal a clean part. Any thoughts on this?

    Cheers.

As far as I know you just keep folding over to find a clean part as you say, but you can clean the clay I,ve just bought so in theory it can be used as many times as you like!?

i just break off a piece about the size of a 50p, use one side, turn it, then squash it around a bit and make a new 50p size then start again, i made one piece last the whole car, and there was a lot of tar marks on the paint. It is great stuff

I use sonus clay as a rule for general use. For the top end stuff, we use Lehm bar!
There's different grades of clay as well. The megs stuffs if pretty good and claying is essential before a full detail!!

                    Post up the results!

Using clay barring "liquid" (the megs stufff I use) just keep the area lubricated enough so it never dries up as the clay starts "gripping" and digging in a bit then. Then using firm hand pressure keep claying the area in horizontal stripes (or a circular motion) until it feels like glass
At least thats what I do anyways! Works a treat the Megs stuff though I have never tried any of the other products mentioned

Hard to describe pressure on a pc, but S2dude has kinda got it!

Just make sure it is always well lubed else you will marr the paint.

I had a Meguiars kit waiting for a chance to be used and I had a bash at my bonnet yesterday. some of the tar spots came off ok but i still have a few that no amount of rubbing would remove. might have to try a wee bit of a heavy polish and see if that does teh job. amazing to run your hand over another panel and then over the area you've just done. I had a couple of neighbours stop and come over to coo at the car while I was at it. there was much panel stroking and general nodding in appreciation.

I'd use a tar remover to get rid of the tar spots. A lot easier than claying it.
We use Autosmarts Tardis which is good stuff but doesn't half stink!!
