hi all,

how does one evaluate how much an s2 is worth - parkers, glasses guide - ive seen some nice cars for sale but the variation in pricing is a joke. I mean, some modded S2s are cheaper to buy than standard vehicles.

I ask because i am looking at a feb 96 aby coupe with 77,000 on the clock (totally standard) - glasses guide told me it was worth 4500 - hes asking 8000 for it.

Hello pal. Glass's guide and parkers are way out when it comes to the value of a nice tidy S2. They are really hard to find with low miles these days. For example i did a search on auto trader last week and there were only 3 for sale in the whole of the uk and they were all high milers. I have just had someone buy my 3B on a 1992 plate with 170000 miles on the clock for £3000. My Feb 1996 ABY with 95000 miles on the clock cost me £8000 3 months ago so it sounds like the price is about right. Hope this helps pal

Yeah, I payed £7250 for my '96 N-reg Coupe with 83k, although the guy wanted £7999. He, and I, were quite shocked when Parkers told us it was worth £5600. However, I'm not sure he realised how rare the car is, which is how I used that to knock him down to £7250, even though It was me who was telling him that the car was obviously worth more than £5600!

Just remember you're paying a premium for a bit of history and rarity, which will make it easier for you to pay "over the odds" for a decent S2!

Depends on condition and history. I am willing to bet my 160,000 mile S2 coupe is in better condition than some >100k milers. That said, it is down to what people are prepared to pay for them.

IMHO £8k would have to be a low mile minter.

I think mine is worth about £7k, but *only* if someone wants a relatively standard high mile minter.

A tatty ABY coupe could be had for £4k though.

Its all down to the individual car and buyer with these cars now...

P.S. It also depends if you are talking private sale or garage. A garage will add at least £1k to a normal private price
