because they werent good enough.ya can beat clarkson n crew.
In fairness I think that happened because Top Gear was off the air for a while and didn't look like coming back. Five tried to address that issue by introducing the direct replacement show - it didn't get called Fifth Gear by accident. Same goes for the former Top Gear presenters arriving on Fifth Gear.

When Top Gear returned, bigger and better (remember when it only lasted 30 minutes?), Five and Fifth Gear were always onto a loser.

Personally I prefer the fact that Tiff and VBH are drivers too, but I would choose to see Top Gear over Fifth Gear anytime. I do mourn the loss of Top Gear Motorsport though, at least Tiff got a chance to present some interesting stuff and to try out some unusual race cars on that show (which was also far too short at 30 minutes and far too short-lived with only a couple of series ever being shown).

Hamster apparently wants the real jet car shunt to be televised and is doing his utmost to be fit and well and to allow the new series of Top Gear to be aired asap. Good man!

            This sounds ominous:

            Hi Alex,

A lot of commentators have slammed BBC's Top Gear in the past week since Richard Hammond's crash, saying the show encourages dangerous driving. There are rumors that the BBC may even axe the show.

We want to know what you think, so we've set up a vote on our petrol blog, the results of which we intend to take to the BBC.

PetrolPrices Blog: Fan's fear as Top Gear May Be Axed

            Thanks for your help,

            Brendan

              TOP GEAR NOT IN DANGER
              The show will go on...

Top Gear has been in touch with PH today to thank everyone for their support and to congratulate our readers on creating such a phenomenom.

The news is good in that Richard continues to become more lucid by the day and is cracking more jokes and is in good humour.

The TG team was also keen to stress that, despite the panic, they are confident that they have the full backing of the BBC and that there are no plans to scrap the show.
