Is there an alternative to IPA for MAF cleaning?

I want to clean my MAF but IPA is not available in Romania, is there any reason why I should not use carb cleaner spray? I can get that here, or maybe acetone (nail varnish remover) Please let me know before I kill my MAF by using the wrong stuff...!
    Cheers

I think you'd be safe enough using carb cleaner. I wouldn't chance using acetone under ANY circumstances for this job.

Carb cleaner contains the following chemicals:

    Methanol
    Isopropanol
    Acetone
    Propane
    Ethylbenzene
    Butane
    Toluene
    Tetrachloroethylene
    Xylene (mixed isomers)

*Note that acetone is listed although I think that less than 3% is used.

Methylated spirt is commononly available and contains both Methanol and Isopropanol , add a drop of Acatone and you have a solvent that should disolve the carbon deposit found in your MAF.

I've always used acetone based "brake cleaner".
