    Calling all urS4 owners

This is a real long shot, but are there any S4 owners with ufo equipped brakes anywhere near Corey at quattronics in Lincoln?

Corey is currently working on a Porsche GT3 brake conversion for me but we need to find a ufo strut to measure for the caliper brackets. The discs are ready. The trouble is that I live in Cornwall and it's pretty difficult to find the time to travel up there, especially as I'd have to make the journey again a few weeks later to get it all fitted! I was hoping that one of you would be fairly close by and could pop in for just long enough to get the required meaurements. I'll happilly help towards your fuel costs and it'd be a good excuse to go and see what quattronics can offer! You'll also be helping to give all the S4s with the dreaded ufos a better life by unlocking the door to Monstabrakesville!

Alternatively, if anyone has a spare ufo strut lying around then that'd do it!

Go on!! It's all in the name of science!

Anyone that can lend either a car for a morning or a strut (we will collect if need be), their car will have one of the front brake assemblies disassembled so we can measure up what we need to, you car will be returned back to how it arrived. You will be welcome to stay and watch the process and have how ever many cups of coffee it takes.
Once we have done we will give your car a full diagnostic and full interior and exterior valet for your trouble and if you wish to venture down the same upgrade as Tris (MerlinS4) then we will do it at the same development cost as Tris is paying and then fit the brakes for free also.

I'm in Latvia - a few thousand km's away I had the UFO struts and have them now too - we equipped the car with Mercedes-Benz 4-pot 993like calipers + 310mm discs - there was a simple bracket made with 4 holes and the MB disc had to be machined 1mm or so in the middle to fit the UFO struts - everything runs flawlessy

              Good luck with the conversion!

Have you got any details of this ......would be interested in this way as seems to look like a cheaper option

                Q:

What model of merc did they come off Calipers + discs?

what is the measurements of the bracket that holds the Caliper?

Would it not be easier to taker 1mm off stub axle wheel?

                Cheers

I'm around 90 miles away, and both me and my UFO equipped S4 are free next Saturday. Be happy to travel over for a contribution towards some V-Power, and provided I could maybe swap the valet for a discount on an oil and filter change?

I saw the request earlier but needed to check my plans. Spooky thing is I've just this week been worrying about what to do when the UFOs wear out ...

Let me know how that sounds Merlin / Corey!

We already do this conversion, S4Miss had the first one. It was just Tris being awkward and wanted something to fit around the GT3's he already had.

What a star if a oil and filter change floats your boat then yes I am happy to oblige, if you ask me nice enough I will even stamp your service book.

What model of merc did they come off Calipers + discs?

I can't really tell You that because I bought the calipers I found the biggest ones

what is the measurements of the bracket that holds the Caliper?

This also is hard to tell....I made the measurements and then faxed them to the service where they made ones with so called water-cutting machine. This was possible because caliper screw holes stays the same dimension as original ones (not as in the Porker situation) so I just had to send the upper dimension picture and tell the bracket thickness for sticking the caliper in the center of the brake disc.

Would it not be easier to taker 1mm off stub axle wheel?

Definately not! taking 1mm off the smallest hole in the disc was needed for clearing the disc on the main axle bolt. 5min job.
Also we had to drill a small hole in the disc where the original ufo disc had that small screw for fixing the disc on the axle.

The total for this system ran out for aprox 100 EURO

You can even fit the bigger AMG calipers with these brackets with huge discs if needed

                        Cheers

996 caliper's with SL600 discs, you would need to bore out the spigot hole and redrill the bolt holes for the wheel bolts.
We have a bracket design already for this combo
