    Cost of fitting bigger tyres???

Just got told on the phone by a Loughborough tyre outfit, that I would be looking at £20/corner to fit my 245/40/17s. Then he added (after I started lauging) that all balancing and valves were included... I SHOULD HOPE SO!

Was I right to tell him where to go (politely ofcourse), or is that the going rate for low profile tyres?

He's not skimping on the tyres, he already has the ones he want's. We are talking about 'fitters' charging silly prices to fit his tyres.

I think a lot of tyre places are getting wise to the fact that people are buying cheap tyres off the net and getting them to fit them. I was quoted £16.95+VAT the other day, only £9 if they supplied tyres! Also told that they cannot use lead weights any more, they have to use Zinc instead, which is more expensive. I checked and the cost of Zinc has gone through the roof recently, so that bit is true.
I ended up paying £50 to fit 4 18" tyres and get the tracking done, cash on a Friday afternoon.
