Plod on M4!

Just a cautionary tale for people that use the M4. (Or motorways in general I guess...)

At 6.50am this morning I innocently overtook a green Golf 2.8V6 4Motion and left him for dead!

30 seconds later his mainbeams started flashing alternately and I moved over to lane 1 expecting to have to pull over. Instead, I got some mouthed words with a pointed finger from lane 3.

The Golf was COMPLETELY unmarked and the driver was NOT in uniform.

Be careful out there people, all may not be what it seems...

Sure it was dibble bro? Its not like them to talk to moving vehicles! We have lots of unmarked vehicles on our firm (ambulance) passats, audis, allsorts. They have blue strobes in the grill, alt headlamp flash and strobes on the rear shelf, most put magnetic light on the roof for jobs. Reckon you might have got a lashing from an over pompose officer, they are always lecturing me too, when they catch up

I am not SURE it was mr bacon - no. Which is precisely why I am slightly miffed, as I am normally pretty good at spotting them.

There were no strobes, just an alternate flash of the mainbeam units. (inner headlight)

He didn't actually talk to me, just gave me a very stern look, waved his finger and said something. He was in Lane 3 and was over in Lane 1....

wonder if you can buy an alternate headlamp flasher of the bay.....

I got away with it on the M69 a few months back, think he only wanted to have a nose at the car - good job it was immaculate that day...just suggested that the best way to keep it on the road was to be *much* closer to 70 than 95 actually was a really decent plod, don't see many these days in a traffic car

you can fit strobes to normal headlamps, should have made a note of the reg and reported them to the bacon boys for impersonating an officer

Well as David said, I'd be glad it didn't end in tears and a torn-up licesnse!

It does sound like some wanna-be, but I certainly wouldn't have tested it by re-taking him in lane-1 and flying off at warp-speed to find out. However much the temptation... :mischeif:

I slowed right down to about 65mph and he came past on the outside in Lane 3 to issue a bollocking....

I am now wondering who it was. I guess I will never know and then I could not sneak up again because of the traffic to get an index number or another look at the car....

Quiet phone call to the relevent *****tabulory HQ should be able to confirm if he was dibble, would leave out the 120 bit though! And use a pay phone and remember your name IS Damon Hill AKA the Stig!
