    Has it been remapped?

Can anyone tell me a way to tell if your S2 has been remapped? Is there a visual check that can be done or do have to get it VAGcom? I know i could get it rolling road tested for the bhp but not sure if there are any places around here to get it done.
My S2 is the only S2 i have ever driven so i have no point of reference in performance it seems very quick to me but that could just be becuase my daily transport is a Berlingo

Buy a boost gauge and that should give you a pretty good idea

That was one of the things on my to do list (boost gauge) but seen as i am trying to sell car am trying not to spend more than the 3000 quid ive spent on getting it the way it should be. but thanks for the idea.

Well if you can gain access to the the ECU you could see if there are marks around the tags that secure the ecu top cover to the bottom. As you need to open the ecu to "chip" it, the evidence is left on the ecu. If its unmarked, then its unlikely to have been modified, unless it has been repaired in some way.
        Unfortunately access is a PITA!

Best way is to get it on a rolling road, I know you said that you're not aware of any locally to you but it certainly worked for me. I was blissfully tootling around in my "standard" coupe until I got it on the rollers and it surprised me.
The place I went to tapped into my ECU boost pipe and took boost readings for me.

A boost gauge will help you but like you say you're reluctant to spend money on it (although you could buy a cheapish one and just plumb it in rather than fully installing it).

          Good luck!

If you can open the ECU the main chip will be a different brand from the Audi installed chips, often made in Singapore or Korea.
