Friend of mine has a white stripped out Corsa, built from a bare shell, coilovers, cage etc. XE 2L 16v, dry sumped motor, 230bhp and it's slippered up.

Hell of a tool, and chews most things on the road (power to weight), but bit obvious it's not your 'standard' car.

A friend of a friend in Sheffield has a clean looking (for a corsa) silver Corsa with the C20LET running about 240bhp. According to my mate with a 182 Clio it's "stupidly quick". Would easily out drag a standard S2 in the dry! BUT in the wet it's a completely different story though (unsuprisingly!) and I know which car I'd prefer to drive around in and be associated with!

I'm sure you can get over it and, if not, then go down the GT3071 route and show them what Quattro really means!

In my younger days in a friends car, we came upon a Little white Corsa which i was told had Nitrous!, i took a look inside and it turned out to be a Fire extinguisher bottle mounted on the dash board

"Its a Fire Extinguisher! you idiot" i could'nt stop laughing at the fact that my friend was so intimidated by a fire extinguisher!

My brother and I used to run MK1 Astras. One of them was fitted with a C20LET running well over 200bhp in less than 1000Kg of car.

Don't know about out accelerating an s2 in either in the wet or the dry though. It had a tendancy to light the front tyres up in the first 2 gears and hence not move much and a monster appetite for boxes!

Not bad once you had it rolling though.

One of the lads across the road from me (serious boy racers) has a saxo that would give a few of you a run for your money. Supercharged 2ltr engine dyno'd at just shy of 300bhp and the same sort of torque. Stripped out completely with just a cage and two seats. Sounds like a beast, goes like one too. HE rarely uses it on the road though, unless off to silverstone or alike!!

But they are potential deathtraps if the correct strengthening isnt carried out. I had to spend a night in hospital a few years ago and there was a lad in the next bed to me who was in a right state. He had a nova with a calibra turbo conversion (carried out by a certain well known vauxhall tuner in norfolk) and was driving it down a straight road when the bulkhead decided to detatch itself which threw the car off the road into a ditch. He got off lightly....with a broken back.
