    Bloody speed traps

    Dear Members,
Today i recivied a very nice letter from Grampian Police stating that on the 3rd of December 2006 at 13:21pm my car was caught doing 80mph just outside Huntly in Aberdeenshire by a road saftey van (didn't help that the guy in the back of the van waved back at me when i shot past).
A mere 20mph over the speed limit! and on a crawler lane.....*****!

I now have to reply to them stating that i don't have a scapegoat to take the fall.
Other members on this site may have had wrongly been accussed of similar offences as i am a enthusiast of speed, not speeding.
So what to expect from the boys in blue at Aberdeen road traffic dept, 3points or 6 points, luckly i have a clean licence and 14 years of excellent driving history and i have just got my Christmas bonus.

Can anyone suggest a good radar detector or should i get the latest Roadangel?

Or is anyone a nice policeman?

I just found out that my mum was caught in November doing 82mph in my dad's RS6 outside Aberdeen and she got 3 points and £60 fine and she has been caught before. MUM you rock!!
My dad told me a story about when he was caught at 110mph through Dundee in his honda civic 20 years ago and he told the cops that he was on call and attending leeds hospital for a vital operation that he was a specialist. The Cops escorted him through Dundee and was then escorted through Edinburgh ring road by two traffic cars at over 100mph, he also said that the only thing was that at 100mph the civic had a alarm that went off as a warning and had to pay the garage in York to turn it off. He also said that he was done in July doing 31mph in a 30mph zone and the cop took great pleasure in looking over the car and gloating at the fact that he was caught. My dad argued the fact and still got 3 points and a £60 fine and a letter of apoligy from the chief constable for the rudeness of the officer and saying that unfortunatly laws were put in place to be upheld. You need a laser jammer my friend!

I have one, saved me loads of times... it screams at you when they start zapping you, slow down to speed limit, turn off jammer, drive past, drop two gears and flat out away! 0 points and nice feeling of two can play that game!

I would avoid jammers if I were you. They jam the signal on the hand held laser gun and an error message occurs. The police know the error well enough to know a jammer was used, then if they catch up with you, you get the book thrown at you.

There will be a new generation of jammers out soon that apparently dont give the jammers an error message, but instead just mess up the reading which is happens often due to external factors, i.e. Other cars on the road / Road signs / Trees, etc..

Would they get your number plate if you filled the van in with this?

I've used one of them, and been shot many times by one.
It would fill the van in a matter of seconds.

I was told by a someone well informed that if u have an electric garage as GT500 has the police can do nothing about it. If u dont have but still have a jammer they can prosecute u for having it. So just get an electric garage then no points!

I use a Snooper S2 of course, bought from Argos for £100 then £50 to activate.

I have only had it a few months but it has saved my a** several times.

While I was driving down the A66 the other day, (going a little faster
than I should have been) I passed under a bridge only to see a copper on
the other side with a radar gun laying in wait. The copper pulled me
over, walked up to the car, and with that classic patronising smirk, asked:

                            "Runway too short?"

To which I replied, "I'm late for work."

To which he asked, "What do you do?"

                            "I'm a rectum stretcher," I responded.

The copper was surprised and confused. "A what? A rectum stretcher?? And
just what does a rectum stretcher do?"

"Well," I said, "I start by inserting one finger, then I work my way up
to* two fingers, then three, then four, then with my whole hand in, work
                            side
to side until I can get both hands in, and then I slowly but surely
stretch the hole, until it's about 6 feet."

Then the copper asked questioningly and cautiously, "And just what do you
                            do with a six-foot ****h0le?"

To which I politely replied, "You give him a radar gun and park him
                            behind a bridge..."

                            Speeding ticket: £105.00

                            Penalty Points : 3

                            Court costs: £45

                            Look on copper's face: Priceless

Not quite true, they can't prosecute you for having it, the current law means they have to prove you manually operated the jamming device to avoid detection.

I believe this is due to change.
