    Audi Heritage Foundation

How many of us are now finding parts have gone NLA? My car is from 1995 for god's sake and some parts are now NLA. Take the RS2! the "under headlight trim" went NLA in 1996, yes, the same year it stopped production
Think how it is for the owners of even older Audi's, the likes of the URquattro, the series 2 coupe and coupe quattro, the 80's/90's and their quattro versions, the 100's, the 200's etc etc.
A user of audifans.net suggested a petition, now it may have been done before, I don't know as I've not seen one but there's no harm in trying, is there?
    So I set one up.
Sign it, costs you nothing apart from a minute of your time.
If the likes of BMW can keep older models on the road, then why can't Audi do the same.
The URquattro in some ways "made" Audi what it is today, and before long (if it keeps going at this rate) most of the cars that are left will have to be taken off the road.
This isn't good enough and needs us to show Audi that it isn't all about new fleet A4's and A6's.

    Sign the petition HERE...

I'll make sure it gets the attention of Audi, it's then up to them to do something about it.
Post on other forums, email to owner friends that maybe don't use internet forums, just put it "out" there guys.

    Jas..

I agree that These cars are becoming increasingly difficult to work on. I own a 91 Coupe Quattro, as does my father and younger brother (of 1700 imported 3 at the same house is rare) I have been rebuilding a 1986 Audi 5000cs turbo quattro for a Friend (getting paid mind you) and the parts are NLA that I need so I have had to order them from the wrecking yards or send the parts out to be remade at an outrageous rate. My family runs currently 3 Audi's as daily drivers 2 Coupes (1 90, 1 91) and a 91 200 20vtq (332k on the clock) so I can certainly tell you I would love for the parts not to become NLA any time soon. Look at cars like the V8 quattro which you have never been able to get main bearings for. Allot of those engines are become popular to the engine swap boys over here, Hell that's my motor of choice at the moment. If you open the motor up it is likely you'll find that the bearings in some of the older motor's are very very worn. I found this out on my first PT, the motor was run on standard oil and wasn't changed ever 3k (I'd wager on every 6-10k). My choices are now to send the bearings out to one of the race manufactures or find something in the parts bin from VAG that is bigger so I can have the block honed and the crank mains enlarged.

Audi has taken a turn for the worst in recent years and the older enthusiasts have taken the biggest hit. Hell looking over the BMW parts list this summer with a guy I did some ladscaping for (928gt owner) you can almost build a complete BMW 2002 with factory original parts. granted some of the parts may take some time to get because they are made in small batches, but still you can get them. I think the URQ is the best example of a car Audi should not let slip out of their history. I grew up with rides in the old ralley car and to this day am still dreaming of another ride in that beast. If Audi is going to be so lax in the parts store I may not be able to keep my Coupe running. Parts for my 58 Chevy 1/2 pickup with the RARE 348 triple duece motor are easier to get my hands on then URQ ball joints .

it is a big problem and has been well documented in a lot of other audi forums, now our cars are hitting the 10 year old mark we will find it more and more of a problem. Car manufacturers have to keep parts supplied for 10 years after the last car/model was produced or something like that. After that it's all downhill, especially with audi, merc and bmw don't seem to have these problems.

I too am deeply dissapointed in audi's attitude towards drivers of the older audi generation cars. not just the lack of parts, but also the attitude of the car delearships, they make you feel that you are driving a non audi car and not welcomed in a audi delearship/workshop. Im also dissapointed in new "audi coupe" replacement, which would be the A/S3, which quite simply is no replacement, specially with it being 80% front wheel drive.

to me it looks like audi are trying to forget about their history, they want to put a ur into their museum, and take the rest off the road.

Signed. From experience i get far better support, and can get a lot more parts for my 71 2002 out of BMW than i can from Audi. And another thing thats strange, any time i go into a BMW garage for parts there always interested in the car, Audi on the other hand dont give a monkeys.

Petition signed. BMW's historic parts catalogue is brill, you sign up at no cost and can then view detailed diagrams, giving you all part number info based on the chassis number of your car, so you can be pretty confident you've got the right bit. Never had any problems getting parts from the dealer, and they were at a decent price too.

Went to the Audi dealership last week to inquire about a new rad for the avant and was quoted £260, all the while being treated like a fricking leper!

So the money goes to GSF- and a damned sight less of it too! Cheers to those who have posted on the broken/cracked rad topic.
