i dont think they did the s2/coupe shape dtm car, it was just the 90 slaoon shape from what i remember? maybe someone will correct me.

There is a S2 with DTM looks in some German championship. I have seen pictures sometime, I think it was red? Try photo Google on Audi S2, I think it is in there...

Audi's successful DTM car was the V8 quattro saloon, it definitely won the 1991 championship with Frank Biela at the wheel. I cannot immediately recall if it won any other championships either side of that.

At that time it was the only 4wd car in the championship and it's contemporary rivals were BMW M3 Evolution, Mercedes 190 Evolution, Opel Omega Evo and a couple of Ford Mustangs, the cars were ballasted in accordance with engine capacities which tended to hamper the 5.0 Mustangs more than it bothered the 4.2 quattro saloon, the remaining cars varied between 2.5 and 3.0 litres in general.

The V8 quattro was ultimately withdrawn from the series follwing protests and at least one disqualification for cylinder head irregularities, possible an illegal modification, though whether it had a significant effect on performance, I don't know.

Later, as with rallying, Audi's 4wd lead was copied by DTM cars from Alfa Romeo (155) and Opel (Calibra), though Mercedes persevered with 190 and then C-Class cars with 2wd, but with moving ballast among other things.

Yes, I've seen conversions S2 to new A4 on ebay, but now I can't find it.
