My anti-virus and anti-spyware is tight as a drum (I'm a paranoid person), and I haven't seen anything, if that makes you feel any better. I did a search and couldn't find any info on that either. It would be near impossible for someone to embed a virus or spyware in this site, or any vBulletin sites that keep their scripts updated. Hope that eases your mind a bit...

        maybe already infected

It sounds like it may already be on your computer and I.E is waking it up so to speak.

Download A squared Free 2.1 . Scan in safe mode [tap f8 on start up and choose "safe mode"]

you could also try Ewido online scan it scans within internet explorer. again safe mode. Both good powerful scanners that should find any nasties you may have.

If you have probs after that, reply and i will get you to do a file of your start up to see if its ok.

        Good Luck

try using the program "mozilla firefox" instead of Internet Explorer ... it is virtually the same .. but with added security built in and other fancy options ...

--- This is from my experience .. when a virus tried getting from a website to my pc firefox would close the window ..... but when i used I.E on same site it opened up the virus and let the trojan in!!!
