As long as you have your log book with your name on...
Tag Plates are unbelieveable! Do a google for them.. can't commend them enough.
I garentee you will be well pleased.

They could make them for Audi, they are that good!

You would need to provide all your details to the police to get new VIN plates from Audi. There is a mountain of paperwork to go through and the police have to inspect the vehicle before you can order them.

I'll second the vote for TagPlates. They do spot on replicas. We've used them several times as it's a lot easier than the official route.

<cough> - I'd be really concerned about a car that had the VIN plates removed... even if you have the log book that says you own this car with registration XYZ and VIN 1234 - how do you really know that is the same car ?

Have you found VIN stickers in the boot or elsewhere which give you some confidence ?

Did you get a V5 with the car? Or did the previous owner not give it to, on that dark night when you picked it up from the motorway service station?

Most of the VIN is located on the firewall top center. Some if the digits for the various options have "Z"'s shown but the final digits are there.
This number is actually stamped into the sheet metal and can not be removed.
