    B*stards

So, my local council has passed the proposal to charge my parking permit depending upon my car's CO2 emmissions. So, to park my car outside my house, when it is therefore emitting NO "pollutants" whatsoever because it is parked, will now cost me, wait for it, £300 a year. That's an increase of over 200%.

What with having the UK's highest council tax already, I'm starting to feel a little "Got at" by my so-called "Liberal, democratic" council leaders. Not to mention the fact that for my bracket, Red Ken wants to put the Congestion Tax up to £25 a day.

Anyone want a 3 year old 3.0V6 A4 Avant? I may have to go and buy a Prius.

    Or a Lexus Hybrid!

FFS, a more short sighted and ridiculous policy I have NOT seen. It is going to get worse before it gets better....

    I feel your pain....

    Cheers,

Life is too short to own a Prius... If you've got to pay top whack for the A4 you might as well go for broke (and a CO2 world record) get a 7.2 Jensen Intercepter and wind up the fueling.

          Dan, that sounds harsh.

I might be able to help you though. Did you actually have your car tested for emissions or did they take to records from a database?

If your car was tested then you could try out the MPG caps, they dramatically reduce emissions. (They also increase you MPG but in this instant the emissions are more important)

Id be willing to send you some to try (Free of charge) I have been using them for about 5 months now in every tank of fuel. - The company that sells them "FFI" is now the fastest growing network marketing company in the world. I joined them when they first started in England and they are now doing over a billion $ worth of sales a year.
For more info have a look at the link in my signature.
          Its worth a try

Wow thats pretty bad for you. It doesn't surprise me hearing about anything like this in the UK anymore. How they can justify CO2 emmissions when some countries are taking the p*ss banging out unbelievable amounts is beyond comprehention.Government ,councils are all useless and clueless. No common sense about with this lot. How they can hammer motorists with the state of UK's roads is beyond me.

Heres a quick fact straight from the horses mouth.( My uncle who wasn't on the planning team but the construction side) I'll make it simple. When they were planning the first motorway (M6) A guy on the team in the main office and suggested four driveable lanes and and two extra layers of asphalt base course. He obviously forseen somehow into the future and looking at it now was totally correct. He was told he hadn't got a clue what he was talking about and told to keep quiet with his suggestions. If they had followed his suggestion we would not have the congestion or roadwork repairs we see today.

I often wonder if the wrong age group are in authority and I suppose I imply this to worldwide authorities.

Maybe I am wrong, thats just my opinion and because its a auto board I am not getting into politics because I get so frustrated with it all.

              Dan that is obscene!!

I am getting abit fed up of all these taxes being introduced for CO2 emissions at the moment. The only reason they are doing this is to gain more money through taxation, not to save the environment.

The earth moves on its Axis so we have a pendulum affect regarding climate. This means we will go through hot climates and cold climates, exactly how it has done for god knows how many millions of years! But no, because we drive around in our evil cars we are the reason the woolly mammoth died out several thousands of years before a car was even invented.

The biggest contribution to global warming is not CO2, it is infact methane. So if we are getting really hot all of the sudden, we can fire up the BBQ and cook a few cows, that should cut it down abit.

Oh..ever wondered where all the harping on about the Ozone layer went? Well it has practically repaired itself so you won't be hearing about that one for awhile...until they run out of money and need another thing to tax us on!

This country is really taking off, there is projects happening everywhere and as there is such a shortage of skilled people the wages are rising quickly and set to go through the roof up here in Queensland. Adelaide was nice, just no heavy engineering

I'm starting to understand why my brother upped sticks and left the UK 4 years ago - he's spent the last 4 years working short-term contracts around the Carribbean and doing very nicely for himself. He doesn't even miss his S4 that much because of his lifestyle now. Hmm.

I think I have figured out a way to beat the scurvy-ridden local council. I'll get my council tax re-assessed as I think I'm in a too-high a bracket. That way, the fall in CT will make up for the rise in CPZ. Still distinctly unimpressed by this though. The way this policy was created, and pushed through without a majority of support is neither Liberal, or remotely Democratic.

Only 25% of residents polled even responded to the survey. Of those who responded only 49% were in favour. There are no released figures as to how many of those who responded were either car owners, or had to pay the parking charges (ie. have their own off-street parking and so it doesn't effect them). Less than 1/3 of the businesses who were polled were in favour. And yet, the council leader has the temerity to say that "The majority of Richmond residents are in favour". WTF? What universe of Maths did he come from?!

I'm going to stop now as it makes me so angry/ depressed.
