Took my new S2 on my normal commute to Portsmouth from Guildford today. Snow very heavy off the A3, and there was an accident at Hindhead (single lane section) with 3 mile tailbacks, so I decided to dodge off and go via the backroads.

Almost immediately came on a long downhill leading up to the top of the sliproad, with two folorn looking newish mercs halfway up it. They couldn't move, just wheelspin. I was coming down, stopped next to them and they were quite sad, one of them said 'I have a towrope' so I thought hmm... wonder if I can get up the hill? Then maybe I could pull them...

So I drove a bit further down, did a 3 point turn then just drove back up... It was piss easy, I didn't slip once, didn't use the diff lock (forgot about it). Mercs looked quite envious at my 13 year old car purring up the hill However when I went back down turns out the tow rope guy had it in his other car so I couldn't help. Probably for the best though, I've never towed before and it would have been bad to slide backwards into an '06 mercedes...

Drove on to work through tiny lanes choked with snow, and apart from some ABS juddering when coming to a halt sometimes, never lost grip once.

                BTW, first post, hello

Grom, sounds like you had an interesting drive! Did you go through Haslemere and rejoin the A3 at Milford? Used to live in Haslemere and that road is a blast when its clear but it's definately a snow trap too sat on the edge of the downs.

                  Cheers

It's fairly heavy near Brissol now. I'm supposed to be replacing the bottom end on a mate's Scirocco this evening, on the drive... Hmmmm...

It's been smowing really heavy here in sunny Rugeley for about 5 hours now!! I had to drive my Rallye back from the bodyshop in it, not the best start for the new paint

I'm gonna try to get out of the work carpark in a minute :mischeif:
