    Goodridge brake line issue

I have put this here so that it is seen by as many as possible.

Issue only relates to lines pre made by Goodridge and the ends are crimped, the assembled ones are not an issue.

I fitted a set of crimped lines to my urS6 23/02/2005 and as usual with anything I buy I checked them against the original brake lines for length.
They matched perfectly but the flexi part was reduced because of the length of the crimped section (the self assembly versions have a shorter none flexi area).
One of my rear lines failed while my wife was driving and thankfully she and the car was unharmed. On inspection it had basically fractured due to not having enough flex, the other side was equally as bad and would've failed soon.
I have replaced them with the self assembly version and made them about an inch longer so there is more flex.
If anyonbe has purchased crimped Goodridge lines please inspect them, if anyone has purchased crimped sets from us I will replace FOC regardless of length of time as brakes are quite important.
    If in doubt ask

It shouldn't affect S2/RS2 Avants as the rear lines are different but still please check.

It only applies to the urS4/6, S2 coupe and urq.

Sorry to here your wife had "moment", not nice loosing the pedal!

I have allways said goodridge is superb on a race car where it is inspected after every race, but not the place on the road!
Yes you get a harder pedal but also the possibility of the above. I am sure they say "for competion use only" on the box.

I've got a lot of time for people like you Corey, good service there.
Also hope that the loss of braking for your wife was in a fairly managable situation. I've lost the brakes before on a car and it truly is terifying.

She was alright, it was quite gradual in it's pedal loss, it made an awful mess under the car.
The crimped versions are TUV approved believe it, whether I was just unlucky I don't know but the line was too short.
On the assembled versions I have had the odd one weep slightly just after assembly but I have never had one fail.
All I can ask is people check them regularly and if in doubt shout.

Yikes lucky escape, i had one blow on me years ago in my pre audi days caused by a cv boot rubbing on it. Eventually it wore through the s/s outer layer and split, zero warning too as it just went pop
