Well it came through the post today ...NIP....88mph in a 60 on a A road ......Just needing advice from guys on here that have been caught speeding to this level and what did they do .....first time for me and it was my fault i know .....Just need to know will it be a fixed or will it go to court and what did you get
Forget arguing unless the (AA or RAC) legal team think you have a case. Look at Honestjohn.co.uk. All of us who are street legal, fully insured, taxed etc etc are sure to get done. Its easy for the law.....
Next time you 'phone ' up when your car has been broken into, all you get is a "case" number so you can claim...Plod do not want to know. Just coming off 6 points myself......long ago, when mobile cops were "policing" I was stopped for no crash helmet ( when it was legal ) , speeding ( on my '68 Bonneville - ! - exhaust noise was not checked ! ) And other offences. All sorted with a bl**dy good lecture and I rode/drove away feeling that the law was being applied properly. But not now. Easier to pay up ( believe me I've looked at the options ) than go to court, unless you have a cast iron defense. Good luck...
Fight it mate, use that link to pepipoo, Ive done it a few times and it works so have my mates (including a police officer lol)
Its not rocket sience, at best you get off scot free plus help other to do the same or at worst you get the points and fine... no brainer really is it!!!
i DONT condone speeding but this is a scam to generate funds for the coffers of the goverment... police on the roads do more for road safety then any number of scamming cameras, they dont even slightly touch bad/dangerous driving or illegal cars etc
My boss has been caught in his Vaquish and His XJR. He has had 3 tickets in the past 4 years and he has binned them all and ignored all the reminders? He has evaded the points and fines doing this? I am not normally that lucky but he says they seem to give up if it gets too difficult and pursue the easier targets?
Money is everything! Second to Power of course!!! But money breeds power??
88 in a 60 is over the threshold for a ban - if they only ask for a fixed penalty you're doing alright!
I've never been caught on a camera (er... yet) but I have been "gunned" at almost 85 in a 60 and they tried to throw the book at me, in the end they could only get me for the speeding offence but still pinched me for 5 points and a chunky fine.
Given the choice I'd prefer to fight it but there are times when fighting the law is not possible. I think there are plenty of cases for fighting against camera convictions though, especially given the number of inaccurate and faulty cameras that appear to be in operation...
There was a case in Suffolk of a bus being nicked for 80+ in a 30, but the bus wasn't even capable of that speed. Personally I think all convictions on that camera instantly become "unstable" ...might be worth investigating the camera location that you were caught on???

I got done on the 4th of December 2006 and i was caught 80mph in a 60mph, 3 points and a £60 fine. However a neighbour of mine got caught in his diesel Jag doing 85mph and he contested it, asking for a copy of the evidence for his lawyer to review. He said that he's not heard anything since july 2006 and that on the letter it said that he would be prosicuted within 28 days. I also heard that the traffic cars must have a daily check on them to show that they are road legal but this means virtualy a mot every day and that it isn't practical, so most cars go out with out it. So if the patrol car has as little as a blub out it isn't legally road worthy. Also check out if the camera van was parked legally an if the van was posted on the traffic plan as the police MUST put on their website where the vans and traffic cars will be patrolling on a particular date.
I answered this yesterday but didn't post because I didn't want to get your hopes up. How many people drive your car? wife, girlfriend ( both, lol just kiddin) father? father-in-law?, mother-in-law? how many on your policy. Then again that doesn't really matter. On my policy it states I can drive any car once that car is also insured by the owner. You could write to constabulary involved and ask for a photo to help identify the driver. Now you can get done for not identifying the driver but if you offer a list , you are not lying because you cant honestly remember who was driving that day.
My mate Andy was caught on a camera and asked for the photo. when it came you couldn't see any driver, it was a works transit van and the back windows was blacked out therefore because they couldn't ID the driver and many people in the company drove the van it was dismissed. You may be unfortunate in a car though, it may have your mugshot in the picture in that case unfortunately your bang to rights. IMO its worth a shot to get the photo. Also as mentioned above look at pepipoo site most of what I said above is on the site. All the best with it.
And as an addition to that, if you are married and your wife is in the car with you and they cannot clearly identify who was driving, they cannot pass charge if you say you cannot remember who was driving at the time.
