I don't know if its just me but driving this week has been almost traffic free again because its half term and every school holiday I enjoy the easy traffic and my quick commute to work. Yet I see little plans for better school busing service better planned group walking and car share to get kids to school safely. It seems to me that if congestion is getting worse despite the constant increase in cost of running a car, then it isnt working. All you are doing is forcing people to pay more to drive a route they will continue to drive. We need alternatives.

I totally agree. Okay there are a number of parents that do go away on holiday during half term but I don't believe they are the majority. I think the "school run" contributes massively to the congestion and the idea that you can "choose" and have a freedom on choice over where your child goes to school makes matters worse!

FFS the government don't seem to be able to work out the real cause of some issues and go for expensive sticking plasters instead!

Your telling me. Half term last week and the junction at the end of my road had two or three cars waiting at the lights maximum on any given day.
This week school starts again and we consistently have a tailback of nearly 1/4 mile at the same junction in the morning.

Yes its the same in NornIron. Thing is, when I were a lad - you fuppin walked to school or got this strange vehicle called a bus. Nowadays the poor spoilt wee-uns get chauffered to school in a wide range of 'chelsea tractors'. Don't get me started on that one - its an absolute shambles...
