If you have a 5 speed box, what speed are you doing if you are in 5th running at 3000 rpm? If anyone has a GPS speed display could comment I would be very grateful.
My speedo and computer disagree by upto 8 mph (if you reset the average speed on the computer whilst traveling). The speedo seems to be showing +6-8 mph most of the time.
Never confirmed by GPS, but 75mph=3000rpm in my old Coupe according to my calculations from a consistent cruise. The speedo showed 80 or a shade above. I always found the 3B to be a good 5-7% high, and I was running 215/45/17.
My Avant, running 225/45/17, shows 76mph=3000rpm, pretty accurate I suspect!
Actually its 24.7mph / 1000rpm (on standard gearing and rolling circumference) but thats just me being pedantic. 25 is a good enough ready reckoner of course.

I think the 225/40-18s on my car have nudged the rolling circumference up a little from the original sized tyre. So I think I'm pretty close to 25mph/1000rpm. I have of course checked on the GPS and interpolated from a much higher speed than 25mph.
