    GSF 10% Car club discount

Apparently GSF offer 10% discount on most items to `approved car clubs` there is a list of these held at all branches. Does anyone know if we are on it at all ?

Has the forum attempted to get the discount set up previously?

Not to my knowledge, but as we're a forum not a recognised car club and have never pretended to be so it could be tricky.

We do have a discount at VAGParts though and a very very helpful stealer contact

Actually this is something we should look into for the likes of ECP, GSF and actually Audi UK would give us something off sticker prices too, but it does require us to 'formalise' as a proper registered club and that means money, time and hassle for me, Greg and any moderators roped in to help.

Then theres the insurance required at club events and other red tape that costs money and *MAY* require us to formally fund the club from membership fees etc etc - not the way forward in my view as its so time consuming and gives us complexity of how to differentiate services for fee-paying members.

In the meantime nobody pays anything formally by way of memberships, and we have a great relationship with our friends at VAGparts, MRC, Quattronics and other sponsors who provide a great service to this community.

Events have to pay for themselves of course and so that is why it is only fair and reasonable to have attendees at various events pay a few quid towards the venue, food or whatever other services are provided. Going off topic here but thats the background to the continued resistance to formalise as a registered owners club. Maybe in the future I will have more time to consider it further and get a better view of all the costs involved.

I totally agree and feel that this "Forum" actually benefits from not being an official "Club".

That said it still has an excellent relaxed atmosphere and long may it continue to do so.

Back on topic, I guess that means I am prepared to forego a potential 10% discount in order for the "Forum" to continue as is...

                    Cheers,

                    Steve.
