    Insurance Dilemma...

What's everyones views on 'no-claims discount' these days, is it worth having?

My problem is I want to take my RS2 out of storage, but the no-claims has expired (over 2 yrs, but under 3 - long story).

Norwich Union (the only company to do a 3 yr NCB gap) will insure me for £1336 and I'll get my 9 yrs NCB back at the end, OR I can insure the RS2 with '0' NCB and pay £500.

My only thoughts are once my UR and other vehicles are on the road again, the 9yrs NCB would come in handy on a multicar policy?

Is NCB worth the outlay (£1336 is lot of dosh for a piece of paper)

Depends mate, you need to make sure if you take it out you get a certificate saying 9yrs NCB on your renewal form at the end that can be given to another insurer.

I had the same issue and a company offer me the same 5yr NCB after being a company car driver. But the NCB was only valid with that company and no other. False economy.

Good point, I just checked with Norwich and I CAN take the full no-claims elsewhere after I've been with them a year....

On that basis, is it still a false enonomy?

To answer that question get a requote from a different insurer with 0 no claims and 9 years no claims.

Personally if you can afford it and it's transferable it will help in the future but it's £836 and thats alot of cash!

Have a chat to firebond and adrian flux. I have negotiated a policy for my day car and S2 as a second car and they discount the price of the second car on the NC from my main car which is handy

Sweet, I went with Firebond for £388 fully comp (including legal cover).

£100 less than my previous quote!

              thanks people!
