    Current Autocar Mag

Just bought the recent copy of Autocar magazine. I don't usually buy this one but it had the new Audi S5 so I thought I would see what it was going to say about it.

This is a quote from it...There hasn't been a serious performance four-seat Audi coupe since the original turbo ended production in 1991.

I was totally fuming when I read this. Where on earth do they get their research from!!!

Seems like they have missed the S2 out totally.

They do mention the RS2 later on by saying...Another 4wd Audi legend. Standard quattro drivetrain dealt with 315bhp. We timed it covering 0-30mph in 1.5 secs, faster than a Mclaren F1.

But you could always look at it this way Micheal, the less the general "ned" population know about the S2/RS2, the better for us.
I quiet like the fact the S2 is overlooked in these mags, saves more of them for people who actually know what they are about.
    If you catch me.

You do have a point but it seems a shame that these cars being so great as they are just get forgotton.

      Hope you are alright mate.

overlooked because the S2 was seen as bland and the poor relation to the UR due to bad positioning by Audi when it launched. True enough that the S2 is stealth in every sense but if you drive an S2 and then drive a UR the difference in communication through the seat and the wheel is massive, the UR is alive and a well sorted example will give many of todays a run for their money in terms of feel. Audi have struggled for years to find something that come close to repeating that feat, the RS4 comes close though.

S2 IS a great car but it will never be a URQ (nor was it intended to be, just Audi piggy backed it on the success of the original and the S1...which was a bad judgement IMOm its a totally different and devastatingly effective drive, especially in the wet, beat the Porsche 968 and the M3 of the time in a topgear road test)

              Jas..

I totally agree and that is one of the main reasons I love mine. I stuck to an Aston Martin DB9's rear bumper last summer and he didn't have a clue what had hit him!

A £7k 13 year old car vs and Brand new £90k car...

The less said about S2's the more I like them...

              Cheers,

              Steve.
