Now that my car has had some new paint, how do I best look after and protect it?
Is there a special protective coat that I can apply? sure I have heard about something like that.
cheers Si.
You might leave the S2 fold every so often - but you'll always come back!
Personally, I give it a coat of Klasse sealant glaze, then top it off with a coat of Collinite 915, leave it to cure then 12 hours later, add a further coat of 915.
1.) Autoglym SRP (super resin polish) followed by EGP (extra gloss protection) which is a sealant that should last up to 3 months and only require the vehicle to be washed
2.) Megs NXT Tech wax or gold class wax followed by some Collinite 476 which has amazing long term protection
3.) A combination of the above but finish with Natty's blue paste wax or P21's for the ultimate wet look shine, but these will not stand the car being left out in all weather for so long and will topping up regularly.
Also I would check that the paint has been baked in an over. If it has not then you need to let it cure and NOT apply strong sealants yet. ( I would suspect it has been baked but you never know)
Most importantly to keep a good swirl free finish you need to learn a good wash technique with two buckets and suitable wash mitt and drying techniques....

Zymol IS the NUTS if you can justify the cost! Go for it!

I second that Zymol is simply superior in protection and showing off the paintwork to its best. It does take a few applications before you see it at its best. Avoids that awful 'wet look' false shine

I have this vision in my head of the forum detail freaks surveying their garage shelves full of umpteen exotic paint treatments and microfibre rags to come up with the best recommendations to questions like this... It must be kind of obessive compulsive in some way... Wish I had more time to learn more about all this - just seems like theres dozens of products that do a good/similar job if you put the time in.

It's a bit like us oily types that stare at the same shelves deciding what oil, turbo, chip etc is the best.
I think when we do the garage meet we will have to have an area for the detailer's also, there will be plenty of space to keep them out of the way of the interesting stuff
