Looking at the screenshot above it does look like a good sim. I play Rfactor on and off. You can download numerous add ons tracks, car series. I currently have F1, HRC rally cars which includes two S1 quattro's . The latest addon I got is the 1979 series F1 cars which is pretty cool. There are dozens of settings to tweak as they do in F1. I have played many F1 sims throughout the years and this seems to be the best to date .You can even download specific software to set the car up but I haven't gone that far.I will check out Test drive unlimited sometime cheers for the heads up.

Just found this You can hear the dump valve now and again on the quattro Historic rally cars group B

Ok I guess i forgot a few games

I wonder if there's a game where they used similar car behaviour like the real quattro's. In most of them it's to much arcade and to much oversteer with spinning rear tires lol.

        Great screenshots btw

What controller are you using for r-factor? I tried downloading the demo a few times but couldnt get my wheel working properly (Logitech Momo Red). One issue was the force feedback reversed so it weights up staight ahead and goes all light when you turn. It was just all wrong so i just gave up on it.

          Cheers,

          Mark.

Well when I said I play on and off its more off. I play with a logitech gamepad. It just doesn't cut it. i.e ai on a certain track 1.09 , humans with wheel 1.07 to 1.08. I just couldn't get those times, I would 1.08 to 1.09. I was very near but as you said unless you can feel the bends you just cant push the car enough so I dont really play now. Most people I played online with used Logitech but without there drivers installed. I have never had any luck with manufacturers drivers. the gamepad setup just right within the game with feedback working. I guess its just not 100% perfect and you have to mess and tweak which in my case most of the time I just uninstall and give up lol. Sorry no real help

hey i got myself a copy of TDU and almost completed it. I have to say one buggy game. Its not a simulator but a good game to cruise. Live for speed is the sim where you can adjust ur car to act like a quattro

I just got myself the g25 steering wheel, my my what good fun. 3 pedals all seperate axis, 6 speed gear box with push down reverse, 900 degree steering rotation, force feedback what more would u ask for?

Ski, have you tried the hardcore mode in TDU? I agree the game is much of a simulation but the hardcore mode makes up for it by making it all driftable. Try taking the stage3 viper for a freeroam in hardcore mode, always makes me lol.

How do you find the G25 with LFS, does the 900degree stearing work or does it slow you down? So tempted to buy one but i spend most of my time driving the porsche sideways so i'm not sure if i do want one. ...if you know what i mean

yes 900 degrees can be a pain if u want to full lock from left to right or vise versa. Also added the clutch.. adds stalling every now and then, also the gear changes makes u miss a gear here and there.. but the fun factor is awesome. You find yourself following traffic with a big grin.
You can also configure the wheel to act just like any other, so you can set it only to use 100 degrees for example.

TDU uses around 700 - 800 degrees of this wheel and drifting is no problem, the wheel can handle me yanking it left to right while trying ot recover from a fishtail and hasnt come off my desk yet.

I want one now Love the pedals, the spacing between them looks spot on. I'd say it would take me a while to adapt being used to left foot braking with 2 pedals. Second nature now but its weird because i never drive like that in the real world. Prob just as well

some people moan that pedals are too close, they are fine for me.

So guys which is the best method? left foot braking or heel'toe'ing ?

ohh, and im finding it difficult to drift with 900 degrees

I'd say left foot braking, one foot dedicated to each control. From any vid i've seen of rally driving footwork they mostly do that but when you need to use a clutch too it has to be the heel and toe method.

I suspect heel and toe on a pc would be much more difficult because you have no feedback. Think of a real car you have a nice firm brake pedal to push against and you roll your foot off the edge onto the throttle. With the wheel the brake pedal is so light it would be rather difficult to get any feeling or be accurate enough. On my wheel when on full brakes the travel is so far i cant reach the throttle anyway, it would need to more realistic with only having 1inch travel at most but with pressure sensitivity instead.

And thats what i was afraid off with 900 degrees, would the game not still see the same endpoints? So in effect you just having lower gearing, or more turns lock to lock? For example drifting the porsche or caternam in a slalom you need to snap from full lock left/right to catch it when changing direction, with a 900 degree would that not mean more wheel movement to reach full lock in each direction?

Quick Q on the gearshifter, you know in games that wont let you down shift early if the revs are too high, as in clicking the down shifter does nothing. What happens with the manual shifter when you do that, do you have to come out of gear and in again to signal the change or how do the sensors work?

                              Hi.

The g25 break pedal is lot harder to press than its accelerator (the accelerator also is slightly raised) which helps to have that real feeling.

yes you will need to turn the wheel a lot more to get it from lock to lock. However, when im playing a rally game, i turn the 900 degrees down to say 450.. or 200... then it actus just as my old wheel (the full lock stop point is shifted).

as for gear shifting, i dont have a game which prevents you from downgearing, most games allow you to do so and your back wheels lock and revs go through the roof. however, if you are in a car with 5 gears and you shift to 6'th, some games put it into nuteral, some back into 5th.

Ive come to a conclusion. G25 with all features turned on is guaranteed to make your lap times slower, but, the experiance is a lot more realistic. However, you may turn the features off, so the G25 acts just like your old wheel (it has sequential gears, paddleshift, and H shifter).

I'd hurry if your getting one they hand made and stock running low.
