1984 Mk2 Golf - fine until the front subframe rusted through the day before I was due to move house.
Drove it (once) from Halifax to Leeds and it would steer hard to the right when accelerating, then hard to the left when backing off or braking. Mad!
Survived through superior driving skills (I am the Stig by the way) promptly parked it up in my new garage and stripped it before scrapping it (it was a beige 1.3C 5 door dressed up to look like a GTI, so no big loss).
    Nothing feels fast for long...

A Fiat 126 with baldy tyres, so rusty it was nicknamed the teabag. Driving it around a grass field was a hoot, picture driving a lawnmower made by porsche

The most shockingly bad cars were the ones that were made in the last 5 years. Namely anything made by Nissan. Micra, almera, primera they all left me speechless, 80's cars were better. And whats with those over assisted brakes

Of the old stuff a Talbot Horizon, steering column was made out of hosepipe. Ford Orion, cant think of anything ok about it. My all time worst was an 81 Micra, only car that ever managed to scare me at 40mph with its total lack of predictability.

Worst cars driven by far have been a Renault Scenic (underpowered barge on wheels) and a Mk 1 Fiat Panda (so wrong in so many ways). My S2 wasn't great when it was running on three cylinders (blown POS).

          Ck.
Shocked, exhausted, hosed, bushed, dumped, chipped, mounted, filtered, gauged, packed, intermittantly wiped and braked. I mean broken. Now, about the car...

Agree with corey on the untracked quattro, death trap most deff. Other than that I had a loan car (of the insurance) a vauxhall Astra, 1995 with a 1.4 engine, had to go to london in it from teh midlands and hey presto half way there the rad blew a really big hole in it......., Pulled over checked it out and to my surprise the head gasket had gone...... (okay I did drive it a bit hard but hey de ho)

A 1.0 Austin metro (1984) which my brother had just under 1 year, for 9 months it ran as well as a metro could with its whining gearbox, then it threw the crank at some unsuspecting pedestrians-cant of liked them , as the box and engine use the same oil we binned them and put a 1.3 austin engine in, this fired the output shaft through the casing and it was stuck in the tarmac- that was 2 weeks after the first engine, so then we put in the monster 1.3 MG engine and box in, this when heavily accelerated (heavily ) caused a sound of iron mongery, the gearbox whine had aquired an amplifier with this engine--we knew it wouldnt last long so we sold it--and made profit as the young prick who bought it thought it was the perfect sleeper having an mg engine in and a L badge .
The only car which i remember as being close was a renault 5 GL-- with dolly blemonge suspension and an anoying habit of doing odd things electrically

This is what I mean, how is it possible in this day and age for car companies still to be making brand new cars as bad as these? Un-be-fracking-lievable! What gets me is that people actually choose to buy them from new as well. How does that happen?

"ooh darling, we must buy a new car"
"oh yes, I've heard the new Nissan Almera is rather underwhelming"
"indeed, and we're going to spend all our pension money on one"
                "in beige please"

                How?!

My soon to be mother-in-laws '99 Daewoo Matiz 800cc, you have to drop down in to first for hills and has a top speed of 65 downhill! Funny thing is that going down hill if you take it out of gear the car slows down?

My favourite feature of the almera was the plastic storage compartment on top of the dash, any time you drop the clutch and get the front wheels spinning the compartment pops open

Best story was a mate of mine who got a brand new rental Fiat Marea Weekend, daftest named car ever. Managed to kill it an hour later by driving through a flooded road, car spluttered to a death half way across. While he was talking on the phone to the rental company water started filling the footwell and all the air bags went off! He Found out after the car was written off with only 26 miles on the clock

I had a Chevrolet Kalos last week as a hire car in Italy.
Absolutely bloody rubbish car. Must have had a wound up rubber band under the bonnet for an engine.
It had 300km on the clock when I picked it up, so thrashed it to death for the 300km I drove it for, up to the top of Vesuvious as well.
                      Hope it dies very soon.
Mk 1 Fiat Panda was a very bad car as well, no brakes-- even if it did not go very fast in the first place.

Citreon C3 - sooo bad! Jelly-like suspension, an engine that couldn't pull the skin of a rice pudding and some sort of driver "aid" that would brake hard for you while going round corners.
Haynes Manual:As described in Chapter 7...

Translation:That'll teach you not to read through before you start, now you are looking at scarey photos of the inside of a gearbox.
