As some of you may know, I am a pretty active member on the pistonheads forum.
This weekend was the long awaited pistonfest where we camp in a field in the middle of the snetterton circuit with a bunch of like minded petrol head nutters having a laugh and a few beers.
It all started off really well on the friday morning but the weather soon turned and it was raining in no time. A friend of mine booked some track time on sunday but unfortunately lost his driving license so he asked me if I would kindly take him out in his 2007 330 convertible (stop boo-ing in the back!!).
I had an absolute blast on the track and showed up some pretty serious machines in the wet (911, 911 carrera 4, a stripped out e30 with a 3.5 V8, escort cosworth, a couple of clios with 2.0 litre lumps in which were quick, big rover MG ZS something or other witha V8 and a host of other cars) and I managed to lap the quickest time of the day which was nice.
Anyway, we got to about 6pm and the weather had turned from bad to worse. It was not only raining but it was now pissing down with rain and we practically had gail force winds. I decided that the weather was far too bad to even bother staying another night so I parked my car between my mates S3 and my other mates 330i ready to load up and ****** off. Well that was the plan...
As soon as I pulled into the space, I saw a gazebo come loose in the wind and fly towards our 3 cars.
. I slotted the car in reverse ready to launch the car back and clear of danger but I looked in the rear view mirror and I could see a couple of people who decided they would just stand behind my car. All I could do was watch in horror as the gazebo hit the S3, dragged across his bonnet the proceeded to hit my wing and drag itself all over the S2 and then finish off by running itself over the 330i.
The result is a scratching wing, bonnet, wing mirror, roof, door, both a pillars and the spoiler and one very pissed off Robatron. It's difficult to see if there anymore damage as the car has been wet ever since and I havent had a chance to clean it up and dry it off so I will do that tomorrow hopefully.
The good news is that the event organiser (he owned the gazebo and the Z4M that also got scratched somehow) rushed straight over and told us that pistonheads will be covering all costs. I have been promised a full car respray so long as I can find a quote that isnt taking the piss in terms of expense. So I guess some good has come out of it
.
I will let you all know how I get on, but its pretty safe to say I'm bummed out over this at the moment.

HOWEVER, a full respray if you can find someone well known in the trade could be a great opportunity too. I know the car is in good condition but just think of it literally gleaming from a fresh spray.
