have just stripped the head down and 4 studs snapped on the EM oh joy !!!

.......two half in as well........ found the cause of leak .and it looks like the damage has been caused when the head has been off before i think by the looks of it (been banged on the edge?)

Middle cylinder a little dink from the water jacket to the outer ring

Nightmare replace the exhaust studs with the shorter rs2 items this way if you upgrade the manifold will fit straight on no hassle at all

Don't know if you have your head gasket yet but make sure its an RS2 metel headgasket. GSF is the cheapest,

ECP if you want a head gasket on its own. GSF if you want the set. Just make sure it's a Reinz.

I'm yet to remove a 20V manifold and not find broken studs. I remember drilling out 3 studs inside the head on a 7A, with head still fitted to the car. Not a job I'd wish to repeat.

How did you find the water manifold bolts? They can be a ****** too.

Got the full RS2 head gasket(reinz) set from GSF with S2 forum discount!! (from Glasgow) ....The water manifold bolts were tight !!!!......

I am lucky the guys in the machine shop are taking all the studs out of the EM side so save me that headache

They may sit unused in your tool box for years but when you have a b4st4rd of a nut like that you'll be glad you had them
