If that was the black one with the roll cage then I went up against it but can guarantee you that conversation didn't happen It was my first weekend at attempting to sprint and the last thing I'm going to do is start boasting on the line.

The only time I spoke to him was at the end of the quarter where we were chatting about it not being his car (his mate who owned it was at le mans), how quick it was and joked about how my big brakes were too heavy and were slowing me down. We had to wait for the next return trip back to the parking as we were talking too long and the marshalls held us back.

Thought he was a sound bloke and it was a quick motor. Obviously not as sound as I thought though, more fool me. C'est la vie.

My car came in 10th and 11th in class for 0-60 and 11th and 12th in class for the 1/4 mile for the weekend. Not too bad for a beginner.

well last year at the pod i had the same thing happen to me with a mk3 golf vr6 supercharged with nitrous started talking to the kid and he said " is that a quattro argh in that case il have to use my nitrous then " and well i got to the end a second before him he was so gutted never seen somebody so gutted either i had to laugh and his reply " i think im gona have to go four wheel drive"

and this year at G T I me and my mate had two runs at 1/4 he has a 20vt golf mk2 which feels fast he has a quafie diff to so both wheels are going for it which most people leave out of the transplant .. and he was another he was so going to win he took every thing out of his car only had a drivers seat left in it no carpets no fook all and well he couldnt match the mighty 4 wheel drive pull of for the drag strip and it gave me enough of an edge to win by .2 of a second but i had all my chairs in stereo in camping gear full to the brim in a avant . so next year i might just strip my car down to nothing and see what times i can get then but yeah i recon for a front wheel drive anything to beat a four wheel drive up a drag strip is well a hard thing to do with normal tyres .,.

The launch on Saturday afternoon was pretty much perfect. Had a bit of clutch slip but it still managed the book RS2 times which isn't too bad considering I was two-up with a bootful of stuff. It seems I can only launch it properly if Carly is in the car with me

We haven't built it for quarter miles though, the weekend runs were just to see what I could manage and to stop people moaning about me never using it properly. The work so far has been geared towards track use. We have some engine tweaks planned for August/September so I'm looking forward to seeing how it fairs against you and Ross at ADI'07 (if you've got your cars on the road by then)

It has an S2 engine highly tuned, nuff said.
