Basset Down Balancing are fantastic - think they are still in Swindon area. They have plenty of I5 experience.

Sometimes the giveaway is all in the name

Very few specialists do their own machining on their engines, they normally sub it out to a trusted machine shop.
If your building your own engine then I am sure you will have a few engine shops local to you, go speak to them and see which one floats your boat.

Lets be honest here mate, I'd wouldn't take a tonka toy to QPS but thats another story.

I would investigate Bassett's price before you commit.

Can I ask what the rough price of the rebore was by QRS out of interest please?

Can't remember the name, but Aelred recommended a place near to me for a rebore + hone. I think it was the same place BDB would use.

Think it was 80-90 +VAT if you want a reference.

Well they used to when I dealt them in the dark ages - maybe they subbed it out.

I recommended them as the thread was about new pistons - which I assumed were some lightweight affair - and so assumed that balancing would be needed also.
