Hi Andy, what a right load of **** aint it. I've been pulled three times but mine are still on!
    :mischeif:
Its all down to "Big Brother" camera recognition. I was told by a friend who knew someone that worked in the police that chasing"foreign" plates from speed cameras aint worth the hastle. But the car looks awesome! BBS Le Mans "THE" finest wheel ever made. If i ever get some new stainless split rim bolts I'll get my BBS RS236's on!

So do they ask Germans to take their plates off when in this country?

I was thinking about getting some of these for my wife's '80 Sport as I think it would really suit it but am worried about her getting pulled over!

Surely genuine european plates are okay in EUROPE???

        Cheers,

        Steve

P.S. The car is looking AWESOME!

My little brother had them on his MK2 GTI. Got pulled over in Aberdeen and they told him to take the front number plate off there and then. One of the officers then bent the plate and handed it back to him.

Must have been to make sure that he never put it back on again. They told him that if his car was left hand drive he might have got away with having them. Thinking of fitting them to my left hand drive RS2 and see what they say.

Nice looking S2 and I have to agree those wheels are nice.

              Andy,

You've got to stop posting pictures of your car, it giving me a major inferiority complex.

Seriously, the car is looking superb.

Shame about the police pulling you over. I can only assume that it because you've gone for the two stamps as well. From reading a lot on here and talking to people it seemed that pressed plates with just the lettering are fine.

Annoying because the option you've gone looks the best.

As mentioned , it's because of those sticker/stamps, I think they're region/area specific in germany or where it's registered/taxed , I'm sure Stu explained it to me a while back....

Safest option to my mind is standard spacing with 'GB' banding.

I expect I'll get pulled now though!

Very nice LMs by the way, your rear 3/4 is absolutely perfect (the car!)

I've had my Deutsch pressed metal plates on the car for over two years, with no real problems. However I don't have a Euro flag, only the seals. When I went to Germany I covered the seals, as I've known die Polizei to get a little upset with fraudulent copies.

BTW Andy, it looks like you have a mixture of old and new style plates. Old plates have the 'dash' with no Euro flag, plates issued after 1994 have only the Euro flag IIRC.

                          The rozzers got me too!

Glad it's not just be then................I got stopped by a jam sandwich on the M6 near Warrington last Sunday for wearing my German "D" Banded pressed steel plates on the UrS6 Avant.

Their PCN number plate recognition gizmo thingy bonged when I drove past them. The cops were okay I suppose even though I was made to sit in the back their Swedish Wardrobe Carrier........thanks for the £30.00 Fixed Penalty kuntsterbull.

Funny thing was that their machine went off a least 6 times in 5 minutes while I got my lecture and ticket.

Good job I am taxed and insured...............and wasn't going too fast :mischeif:

Love the look of them, but don't understand why you guys would complain when pulled over?
They are illegal. Wrong emblem, wrong fonts, a dash in the middle of the text or german type stamps.
Like speeding, go over the limit and get pulled, then pay the fine.
All it takes is for one copper who's wife had a headache the night before and you get a ticket.
I know you'll all say they should be after real crooks etc, but they have the plate recognition systems for a reason. Put it this way, say the law did away with it and didn't give a toss. Then some ***** uninsured driver comes round the corner and kills ya kid.
                            What then?

Plates look great, if you use them then don't be suprised or pi**ed off to get pulled.

Andy it's the dash and the stickers, the dash is a big no no with the cops.

I've had a few funny looks regarding mine, I've got some funky standard plates in the boot though, think i'm going to take the D plates off this week as VOSA are out to make their figures up at the moment.
