a good point there i also have tryed gsf wheel bearings and have also had to replace them as they started to grumble pretty soon afterwoulds. have had all four replaced with genuine and haven't heard a noise from them since.

I would say if your getting it done by a garage budget for 2 hours labour per side (as they have to press bearing out/in) - and maybe another hour for bleeding your brakes (if you have rs2 hardlines) -

and maybe £150 ish in parts/fluid (at garage rates)

right, over the last couple of days i've noticed that when I slow down I think i can hear a slight drone, hum coming from the front passenger side corner. Suspect it's a wheel bearing or something similar??!! Any ideas?

not sure about the 'going away when adding small amount of pressure on brake pedal' will check tonight....

I believe that when the car had new discs and pads the guy seemed to know and love rs2's hopefully enough to do it right. I'll check the receipts and see if it gives me a clue

Thanks for all the feedback as always the S2 forum is the place to be!

I had a similer prob on my 2.0 ABK coupe, could have sworn it was the near side wheel bearing, turned out to be the offside. Mine came with a wicked vibration as well, allthough i had front bottom arms and ball joints that needed doing as well.

Since that lot was done, much better

Mind you, the advice i had was only replace the bearing thats knackered, and being a cheapskate, (and a bit broke) thats what i did!

Wheel bearing or the dreaded porshe alloy caliper back plate galvanisation issue that does not allow full pad retraction. Does a small amount of pressure on the brake pedal make it go away ??

The other thought is someone fitting non OEM pads with newish disc as the RS2 pads are slimmer than the same porsche pad. Initially the can drag. Not an issue as the disc and pad wear as they create more clearance

Funny - I had a little low speed drone coming from the rear. I havent been the using the car much of late... Took it out for a wee run and reckoned the rear calipers were just a little slow in releasing the pads (they sat on the bench for a long time before fitment). Sure enough a couple of good full stops from 60 cured it immediately !

Sounds like you might have a wheel bearing issue or perhaps a grabby caliper at the front. Does the noise get worse when turning right or left ?

Check you brake discs have worn evenly too; I had this problem recently intermittently - the insides of the discs had ridges in the middle! Replaced them both and haven't had a reoccurance.
