    I love quattro!

So last weekend I found myself in Cornwall with a group of petrol heads like myself. We had a 911 turbo, M5 V10, Ginetta G33, MG V8, 630i BMW, Clio 182 cup, Civic Type R and My trusy S2. (All seen below except for the S2 as I was already in cornwall by that time)

As most of you would know in the south, the weather was truely awful and we pretty much had non stop rain. This got all very interesting when we went to see the local hill cimb in lostwithiel as the car park was basically a field on an incline which was like a boggy pitt. Below is the Porsche 911 Turbo pretty far up the hill before his 4wd had enough and spun up all his tyres.

You can see the tyres marks where he span out and just over the roof you can see where the 6 series had to settle for (Yes, they grey spec in the distance)

This is where I ended up with my brother giving the thums up as we made it all the way up the hill and had the least distance to walk!

The best part was yet to come though. Whilst we were watching the hillclimb it decided to chuck it down with rain which meant the entrance/exit was nothing more than slushy mud. I slowly descended the hill (whilst doing a diff lock drift ) and got out of the gate pretty easily to be honest, as did the 911 but then the BMW attempted it... lol

You can see how bad the mud was:

    Cue one very embarrassed owner:

In the meanwhile I was back at the hotel washing the car down with the porsche owner:

Whilst this was happening the M5 was having the bonnet catch replaced with a piece of shoestring as it unfortunately gave way after I asked him to pop the hood to show us the V10...Opps!

It really was a fantastic long weekend away, even though we spent most of the time driving there and back. If anyone ever fancied an S2 run I would be up for it or if they fancied joining the pistonheads bunch they would be more than welcome to. Besides, it gives us a chance to stick to an M5 in the wet around the twisties!

mucho kudos to the oldest car of the bunch Still remember watchin a bmw holding up 1/2 a mile of traffic when the owner wouldn't give it up and put his snow chains on in the french alps a few seasons back, talk about snaking it.

When the S2 is back on the road will defo be up for a blast with the pistonheads bunch - i'm on there but not so often as I should be...

Respect Robatron! Love the hill climb story. It really is surprising what a decent S2 will keep up with, especially if it is wet!

        Catch you soon,

        Cheers,

        Steve.

David - You will definatly have to get yourself out on one of the pistonhead runs, they really are great fun.

Dan - No, the car hasn't been resprayed just yet, I am still waiting to here about this one which is a little annoying (read very annoying) but the guy in charge of it all does have alot on his plate so I will need to speak to him sharpish and ask him what is happening.

Steve - the traction in the wet is amazing, it felt really really planted and felt like I was nowhere near the cars limit. I have had runs with these guys in the past when it was dry and obviously a 911 turbo and an M5 will be quicker along the straights, but eventually I always catch them up due to traffic up ahead or a series of bends!

once the s2 is back on the road theres a few things I want to do, nurburgring and a few afternoon blats for sure...

Did you get confirmation of a full glass out respray and what quotes did you get in the end? having seen pics of Amanda's UR Q respray i'd get details from the person who did hers.....the pearlescent finish looks amazing.

              Cheers

Well I know you don't live too far from me, so when its back on the road let me know and we can go for a few runs!

I got quotes ranging from £2200 to £4000 for a glass out full respray. Oddly enough the company that charged £2200 appear to do the best job..

I haven't seen the paint job done on Amanda's UR, I will have a little search and see if I can find it.

I'm realy eager to get this resprayed now but I have no idea how long it will be...
