Think that's bad - I've had three credit cards in three months targetted by fraudsters - first one had £7000 charged on it, the second nearly had £700 (the credit card company got suspicious), and just this week I find that my latest card (which I have had for just a matter of weeks) has been targetted by someone trying to transfer the best part of £3000 on to it ..........

Never lost any money, but the hassle of getting new cards etc... is starting to P*** me off a bit

My sisters recently had people taking money off her cards at random times.

They'd have no luck getting any off mine, ain't been paid yet....

Which is exactly why I have cancelled all but one of my credit cards. They are a bloody liability these days...

I had the opposite with my cards... went to Italy on holiday last summer... and both my bank debit card and my Tesco credit card were blocked by the bank/Tesco ...

I rang HSBC Mastercard ("use it in x million shops all round the world") and they said "oh well we spotted an unusual spending pattern"

I said "unusual spending pattern !!?? .. I am on goddam holiday using my internationally-accepted mastercard"

"but you didn't tell us you were going away"

"well you're not my mum are you!!!??"
            SOLD !

Shell garage near me was also hit by this, my sister called me to say that some people have had their cards cloned. AFAIK my card isn't one of them, I haven't bought any fuel with it from that garage for several weeks now and the police are already onto the fraud that occurred ...but I am more than a little bit concerned, as this has happened to Shell garages using chip and pin in the past as well.

police said there is a nationwide investigation into shell apparently they were swiping the card b4 they went into the pin machine and had a camara in roof watchin you put your pin in or there is a machine inbetween the card machine and the fone line

Just wondering the shell garage you are talking about is it ran by foriners

It's in Diss, Norfolk, and yes it is I have to say, though I seem to remember the people running it were there when the original Shell problem was being cleared up. I'm not about to cast aspersions about the people there because they're still running it as far as I can see (when I drive past) and the police have been involved already.

I'm now concerned about another potential scam as I ordered something over the phone recently and got a call back about a problem and totally unthinking, I quoted a card number back at them ...now I have to get it checked out!

I never used to worry about card fraud but it seems to be frighteningly easy for people to rip you off these days ...I'll probably only buy with cash from now on and not use a card for anything I don't have to use it for!

I use my cards online more than the average user, and i usually fuel up twice a week - at shell garages. Yet, ive never had any fraud on any of my cards.

Does that make me fairly lucky or you guys unlucky?!
