technical question??? alloys and porsche brakes!

hello everyone the time has come when i start the project on my car, I am looking to change the alloy wheels on my s2 as i have standard avus rims, i am going to fit porsche brakes eventually to the car but for the time being i want to fit some new alloys. I want to fit the new type rs-4 alloys to my s2 but i was wondering what offest i would require and if they are possible to fit with brembos? can anyone give me exact dimensions i require to give to the alloy wheel centre to see if these alloiys can be fitted?

If possible i want to get the alloys first and then the brembos as the car is going for a re-map soon!! i would appreciate any suggestion guys as i am not certain what alloys fit and i dont want to be stuck with a set that wont allow me to upgrade the brakes!

Up to 18" - ET 35 on aftermaket alloys

You may need ET30 on 19" depending on rim style.

You need to specify this as your requirement:

    PCD of 5x112

    centre bore of 57.1

    ET35

If you are going with 18's pretty much any size brakes will fit up to RS4 Calipers!

Erm thats why I said ET 35!

There's no hard fast rule as alloys have different spoke designs which affect the clearance on the caliper.

But I've never heard of caliper clearance issues on ET 35 with a 18" rim

              thanks guys

thank you for explaining this to me as i am new to this, i also have to add theses are the new rs-4 alloys currently on the rs-4 the spokes that are split, my thinking is though if they fit a rs-4 brake unit they should be alright on the s2?? thanks for your help much appreciated.

Was gonna add this point, these alloys accomidated some heafty brakes in oe trim so shouldn't have any issues with the monoblocks. Mate of mine ran brembo seat cupra calipers and needed a small spacer for his rims to work but the mono/996 upgrade seems to give reasonable clearance. Lot of guys on here are running this caliper with a 314 disc on standard avus rims and they are et 37.

The main point is when modifying there are plenty of ppl running this brake setup with different wheels and to my knowledge, no major issues have arisen.

                  Hi,

I got a set of 18" RS4 nuvolari alloys the other week, and already had brembo calipers. Fitted like a glove - with plenty of space left for biggers discs if needs be

I had pretty clueless to start with - but after some research worked out the following:

There are loads of different measurements - all of which are pretty important - when figuring out which alloys/tyres you want.

                  A typical spec might be similar to what i had - 18" RS4 Nuvolari 5x112PCD ET35 with 225/40 R18 Y Toyo Proxies T1R.

18" - The diameter of the alloy
                  RS4 Nuvolari - Alloy name
5x112PCD - Number and diameter of bolt
ET35 - The offset. A lower number means the alloy is further out from the car.
225 - The width of the tyre in mm
40 - The ratio of the sidewall height to the total width of the tire as a percentage
R18 - The diamater of the rim that the tyre will fit
                  Y - Speed rating (Y is up to 186mph)

                  Cheers.

                    thanks guys

thanks very much for your advise, i think im going to buy the new rs-4 rims they are not like the ones above though. But if i stick with a 35mm offset this should be alright with the brembos. what porsche callipers do people normally go for on there s2?? Also who is going to castle combe?? or leeds vw festival??? i hope to see some fellow s2 lovers all the best steve.

                          hey

i have got a audi s2 aby on L registration, soon to have new allow wheels, upholstery re-trim and re-map by dialynx. I have also got a vr6 corrado on m registration i find it hard to keep the two going sometimes but they are well worth it as some new cars dont even come close to the two cars i have got!

Remap by Dialynx? What made you decide that?
