    Lotus exige

hi all, was wondering what this car is like? how strong is the engine ? is it tunable? I am looking into either buying another car , or keep s2 and modify or buy another s2...

what are your thoughts and experiences with this car?

My only experience has been having a bit of against one across Milton Keynes, and they are pretty rapid - i found them just faster the rs2. If you want tunable surely the vx220 turbo would be the way to go?

Lotus has a far better image than the VX220 ( it's a vauxhall after all )

It's a very good car, I have an autocar article of one with a GT28RS kit installed and that was rapid.

It's not a very particle car though if you'd want to use it everyday it's an ideal weekend car

The VX220 is very rapid that's for sure. My last 'ring trip was in one. They do start to get expensive to tune though due to the limited room in the engine bay - have to fit a chargecooler as there is no room for an intercooler.

Haven't driven an Exige but seen plenty at trackdays. Seems to be a great variety of engines from Rover VVC's, Honda Vtec, Toyota VVT's up to Audi 20v turbos (they were seriously quick!).
        1990 Peugeot 205 1.9 Turbo 192bhp - 190lbs/ft
1996 Vauxhall Omega 3.0V6 Ex-Plod - cop motor, cop shocks, cop brakes, cop LSD. Cheap, tatty and comically sideways!

I was lucky enough to have a 10 minute drive of one about 18 months ago - a mate manages a Lotus franchise in Devon where i used to live.

All i can say is WOW.

If anything i'd say they inspire far too much confidence and i'm fairly sure if i had one i'd have binned it by now

I'd go so far as to say doing a great deal to it would ruin the setup

But bearing in mind they can lap a tight circuit in similar times to a Zonda, why would you want to?

also, i had back ache for 2 hours after driving it on some average B-roads

to be honest i think a turbo'd lump wouldn't suit the way the car is set up, its very very precise and i think lag would put a dampener on things, althought the inherent torque of a V8 might make things more reasonable.... still... you might scare a Veyron

It has an 4 cylinder 20v fitted... I remember there was a fella of practical performance car fitted a 20v VAG motor in a elise and it had 300hp/300ftlb

thankyou .. will check it out ... perhaps the exige is lighter than the elise and will give even better performance than the ones they advertise

they are about 60kgs heavier than an Elise, mostly due to the supercharger & associated gubbins i think
