Poss looking at buying this, but am I being taken for a ride?

Now this sold a while back, if someone got it for £8k I think it was a bargain. The guy that currently owns it claims that being 6' 4" he's too tall to drive it as with the sunroof comes a lower roof lining so he's looking to move it on.

Also says he didnt pay £8k for it as he didnt see the advert and paid more for it via autotrder. As it stands he's put 3k more miles on it and has said he'll prob put it up for £10k with 18" Audi rims now on it, or £9.5k with the standard (discoloured centre caps) wheels, still a tidy profit!!

Says he's an Audi technician by trade and has serviced it, changed all fiters etc.

Tempted to buy it but not at that price, plus slightly worried by the mileage. Also on another forum, someone claims to know the former owner and said that it sold for £8k via pistonheads.

Just wonder if alarm bells should be ringing to be honest!

Tend to agree, suspect he wont let it go though for that. Does tick all the boxes for what I want with the Recaro and sunroof, plus im liking the black!

Might call and say cut to the chase what £££ buys it, before I even go and look at it.

could be worth a look but at the end of the day its your money and if he's out to make a quick profit out of you he probably will try.

Tbh if your not 100% then don't worry if you don't get it, you will find something else to be happy with and possibly saved yourself some aggro with this.

If you really want it then it's worth the extra money say 9k may 9.2 at a push.

I'm loathe to buy a car for more than I've seen it advertised for, but it's supply and demand.

The BIG problem with these engines is that if they are overheated the pistons shrink and cause scoring on the bores but as they are Nicasil lined they cannot be rebored and you end up with a very expensive paperweight.
Be very careful-if it smokes when warm-RUN!!!
If it is a good engine they can be tuned for big power easily(std turbos are KO3 (1.8t 150 bhp) and can easily be swapped for KO4s (225 audi tt,S3,Cupra R))Which is what they did to make it to the RS4(along with other mods natch.)
Lovely motor if it's a good un-money pit if it's not.

It's now on Autotrader, going to look at it this afternoon. He wouldnt really discuss price over the phone butI know what i'm prepared to pay and that's it really
