Does look like a big drop from standard maybe -100mm or more possibly... this is all about compromise (ride height, wheel size and actually having one) with this mpv thing... we only have 3 children and the wife could manage perfectly well with a `normal` estate ie an RS2 or project RS2+ avant (when its finished) but she doesnt want an `old` car so i will `let` her have a modded mpv (as shes a good girl) and also my choice of 2nd car
Just won these on ebay....

I try and justify this kind of thing as well to the missus, but she can read me like a book.Comment

Tourans for a second family car
@ laseravant s2, dubbedup is correct in his two posts # 8 and 12, Yes I was surprised there was a Touran forum also when I first found it. Have only used it to leer at the photos of the altered ones. Ours is a standard 105 bhp 1.9 manual 6 speed.
Discounted the Tiguan and can't find info on the Q5, but when we go again it will definitely be a black beige leather Touran 2.0 D 170 bhp with DSG. The DSG was great on the MK 5 GTI.
Ours is a 2004 black with Beige leather and has been fault free and my better half loves it, especially the extra height of the driving position it gives over a car, no mind the room it gives for three small children and their gear.
Only complaint yet to be checked is the smell from the air con of stale water during the first five minutes of use?
Gets dear if you spec up a new one, but you guys should be spoilt for second hand ones fully loaded?
My tuppence worth.
Kind regards.Comment

Did you see the `Hulk` Touran in the video clips on there? Kids loved it and when the wife was chatting to a friend she heard my little lad telling her friends son we were getting a car that had The Hulk on it...er not! Although i dare say some rims and lowering is in the offing

Borrow a demo one off a friendly main dealer for a few days??
@Laser avant s2, I agree I would have changed ours for a 1.8T, or now a 2.0T, but they never did it, except I think in Japan?? While ours has ESP, a 4 motion one when one has more power would have also made me change our 1.9TDI FWD.
As you probably know they based on the MK 5 Golf platform, and so handle and brake pretty well for an MPV type of vehicle.
Ours isn't altered except to take the TOURAN and TDI badges off the rear hatch and change the four indicator bulbs from orange to chrome. Xenons would also be a nice option for the next one.
Oh yeah, it’s a seven seater, but we’ve only used the extra seats once or twice and only ever had two very slow punctures so far.
I definitely think they look their best in Black & Highline with beige leather, but that’s just me.
Borrow a demo one off a friendly main dealer for a few days?? We did and couldn’t give it back and ended up buying it, and it’s still great after two years. Love to have Jabbasport chip it or re turbo it and chip it? Would also like to have 18" BBS LMs on it. RS6 alloys in 18" or 17" wouldn't be too bad of a cheaper second option IMO. However, no spare money or time.
Kind regards.Last edited by macspring; 24 August 2007, 00:27.Comment
