I still don't believe Audi will go back to strapping on turbos on their S and RS cars for the time being: they've made a concerted change of direction in the last few years to very clever NA engines, I'm sure that's how they'll continue...Ex S2 owner, now running around in an A4 Avant quattro...

funny i think.. audi have gone to big n/a engines and yet volkswagen have gone for small turbo and supercharged engines i would imagine at some point they will give up going one way or the other..Comment

So why not raise the bar again, and move towards very clever FI engines? :mischeif:Nothing feels fast for long...

The two companies have very different engineering ideas. Audi wants to be seen as the more upmarket brand and distance itself from VW (hence the seperate dealers).
Remember that VW went the vr6 route while audi did the more conventional v6.
Apart from the A2(??)A3(golf/leon platform) all the Audis are a longitudinal layout so have the room for larger capacity, multi cylinder engines.
It's a question of snobbery as well, some people(usually ex-BMW owners) wouldn't buy a car thats engine is from a VW.(and yes i know the cayenne engine is from VW(but Porsche own most of the company so in reality ALL VW's Audi's,Seats,Lambos,Bentleys,Bugattis and Skodas are Porsches!!!!)Comment
