    Is this a tracker?

I've got a bit of a problem with my central locking blowing fuses at the moment, so I have been having a bit of a poke around this evening. I pulled out the central locking pump to have a butchers, and found this:

It had a +12v and ground going to it, and what appears to be an antenna wire. There are no markings on it whatsoever.

What do we think it is?

Yeah it's disconnected now.. and it only had the power connected so it can't have been anything that could stop the car running.

I'm just surprised it has no markings or anything on it, and I still wonder what it is!

Maybe its beaming a 'stolen' signal to the feds right now... Suggest you disconnect its own little battery pack - just in case the thing is still registered to someone and an alert is active at the copshop !

The owner has 2 report it stolen for it to be activated

Think the reason for it being unmark so that it doesnt look out of place if a theif rips a panel off trying to find it

There always fitted in different positions on a car but audi say that u can only fit in one position in each of there cars

i once had to fit one to the new shape rangerover and found a nice position then found in that position there was already 1 fitted from when it was new but the new owner didnt no at all this is very commen

I imagine it's well out of date now, and probably wouldn't even work.. and of course I don't know which company it's with!

I just wonder if the insurance would come down if I did some digging and found out which company it's registered with, and then declared it on the insurance.

The pic looks like the original Tracker that my brother had fitted to one of his cars.

It would have been used in conjunction with an external immobiliser (think ours was Hamilton & Palmer ?).

You may want to trace the wiring to see if this unit is still fitted to your car.

I checked the wiring out before I ripped it out, the only wires that were connected were the power wires.

Pretty sure Trackers do nothing to lower your premium
