    Ideal Setup

I am trying to put a list together of an ideal setup to get my 3b up to around 5-600 bhp, I have seen a few old posts by some of the big bhp cars on here and liked how they have done theres but some of the threads are a bit vague as to how they have got there and what turbos/manifolds etc have been used.

Some items that I know would be needed to get decent power:

    Scat rods
    6 speed box (reliability)
    Reverse inlet manifold
    Decent turbo and manifold.

Just out of interest for the people who have big bhp cars etc what would be the best set up for me to go for?

Lol if I had the money for an r8 I might................but would probably buy a Ur q and do something with that instead, prefer the looks/sound of these engines tbh and was looking for some pointers as to what parts would work together and would help me get to a goal of around the 500ish mark.

I want to try get this done before I go to uni whilst i have the money because once i'm there the car is being put into storage and only brought out for show's etc till I finish.

500 bhp on the 3B is possible but going to cost more. I'd say aim for 450 with the 3071R and have the same setup as Ross in project 400.

Then you've got 500-540 with the GT30R ( 3076 ), then 550-600 with the gt 30/40 ( Gt3082r ) but then you've got to consider converting to ABY loom with coil packs for these bhp range ala Terrybullwon, Audiman and 4wheeldrifter not a nice job!

3B is lighter too so just stick to less than 500. trust me doing a loom sawp etc is a PITA
            Dark Grey Avant
            RS2 FARB
            Powerflex Front wishbone bushes
            Alloy Subframe Bushes

Yeah i've heard all about the loom swaps and how much of a pita they are. I just know if I go for the lower conversion that i'm soon going to be wanting more so its just easier to skip the steps and go for the bigger conversion. Just wanted to basically know a couple of things like what turbo would flow enough to get me to that score and what manifold to use as i've read jamo's post saying the rs2 is good for around 450bhp so looks like a tubular manifold (and just brace it and hope it don't crack).

Mixed views on inlet manifold probably go for something like what you have with a reverse inlet, just the power steering pump which is annoying.

edit - thought about going with vems as from what i've read its plug and play and can run coils.

I think most people are clouded by bhp vs having a driveable car.

A 450 3071 is infinitely more enjoyable that have a 600 bhp 35/40 which is dead below 4500-5000 rpm.

Same lag as OEM and pulls to redline plus it's cost effect and you can retain alot of OEM bits.

End of the day it's your money so you have to make your choice, but it's no coincident if you speak to members such as Sal he said his S2 was most enjoyable when he had an RS2 turbo as it gave the best performance to bhp ( 400 on his setup )
and that he sold his 35/40 because it was not enjoyable and he downgraded his turbo.

Yeah i've heard a lot of people say the 3071 is the one to go for and i've actually been thinking of that, would like to keep the way it drives at the moment just want to up the figures in particular the torque at present. I've been looking at a tubular manifold at present and trying to sort out the best way of getting the stuff like the downpipe done to go with this as I presume if I went tubular with this turbo it would move the joins for the downpipe so I would need something made up for that (which I would do anyways, prob 3 inch dp)

Ask for a ride some different cars at the up coming meets with various specs and you can decide from there.

3071 works fine with a RS2, also consider the new 034 / wagner RS2 and SQ replica they will flow more than the RS2.

I'm not keen on tubular only one of the quality I have seen that is oooooh so tempting is the one Jeffer makes in 321 SS. Now that is a thing of beauty

Yeah I will try ask for some rides, went out in azman's car which sounded lovely and will fly once mapped.

Is there any updates on when the SQ replica one will be completed? Cast would be good for reliability, I did not know jeffer made one, have you got any links to it and the price of one? Was also looking at the repo one as a couple of people have that.

Btw thanks for the input, sounds like a plans coming together and its good knowing people who know what works and save me making a big and costly mistake
